over handling a pup
Whats ya'lls opinion on over handling a pup (between 6 weeks to 4 months old) i let my pup out every day let her play with the house dogs and just explore. i also take her for walks and the occasional car ride. i was told the other day I over handle her and she gets babied to much and won't amount to nothing. just curious what y'all think she's 3 months old. iv always done this
I say your right their wrong
I find dogs do better the more time you spend with them. None of mine require leashes. They all come when called. It's makes hunting a lot easier when you have a good relationship with your hound.
Keep doing what you are doing,,they do better and listen better.
It doesn't matter what your doing with a pup there will always be a certain number of know-it-alls that will tell you to quit what your doing "your going to ruin it". I know people that will tell you you need to tie a pup to a box and forget about it until it's two years old and other people that say if it isn't doing anything by it's 1st birthday "they aint feedin it". The thing is they're just like weather men, if they keep making the same stupid prediction they're bound to be right about 50% of the time. My feeling is you can't work with a pup TO MUCH, the more training the better. You will make mistakes "we all do" but if it's a good one they're really not as easy to screw up as some people want to think.
Get you 2 pups the same age spend a lot of time with one and leave the other in the pen for 6-8 months then see which one you enjoy hunting better.

Starting to like these walkers
I have one 4.5 months. Spoiled rotten. Ive never spoiled one this bad. She's ran out her whole life. Mean as a snake. Golf cart dont move unless she's on it. The family says she will never hunt a lick cause I will have to haul her around on a golf cart lol. If she dont. Thats fine to. She can be a pet but she will tree a coon tail and went crazy over caged coon I showed her. She loves to play fetch to and gnaw on stuff.

you cant spend to much time with a pup, or dog but be care full they can pick up bad habits like lose on the tree and Cumming in or just hanging around instead of hunting out !
