Heavy Runnin Bullet

I just purchased a female that I think will really niche with my Jack dog. She is a granddaughter of Diehard Jacked Up John Henry that goes back to Tramp and Wheats Playtime Blue Star that goes back to Bullet. Dam is by Runnin Bullet II and Lathrops Blue Ruby that was out of the famous mating of Rambo II and Smiley's Heather.
I found here South Texas standing on the end of a chain, 13 months old and has never been hunting.
I took her with my two year old Pearl gyp this morning and I was most impressed. Extremely outgoing, moves well and bold. She made two big circles on her own (I am sure smelling a deer or hog) but that is okay with me. It was way after daylight and Pearl only opened once on a track that was too cold to handle.
Lee Smith, I think you will like this one.
Adios,
Gary

Thanks, Tom. I hunted her with my Pearl gyp, barely two years of age and she really impressed me for her first time out. She is very bold, confident and after roading her a mile, got down to business.
I hunted her after daylight Saturday morning and I didn't find but one track from the night before. Pearl barked one time on an old, old track but could not move it at all.
The gyp, I call her Yuma took two tracks that I am sure were deer or hogs and went over 500 yards away. She did not open but I know she was trailing. Pearl had passed on both tracks, so I know they were trash but I let her roll. I did not want to discipline her the first time she attempted to follow scent.
Eddie Moore, my partner hauled her about 100 miles north of here where he will hunt her with Ten. Ten is a really great coon and cat hound and should be excellent to get the gyp started on the right path. I called Eddie this morning and he said that Ten trailed a coon from a windmill to a hole in the ground which is not uncommon in this heat. It is much cooler a couple of feet underground than it is on the surface when it is over 100 degrees.
I am ready for a break in the weather. Approximately 20 days over 100 degrees and no rain in almost two months.
Trailing conditions are terrible. We will soon find out if Yuma has a nose or not....
Adios,
Gary

CR NEUMANN, I was born and raised there west of Devine so I know that country pretty well. I don't hunt much there any more as I have so much country here around Menard for coons to train and keep my dogs in shape. I have started hunting lions quite a bit out in the Big Bend, New Mexico and AZ.
I don't know Wesley as I left the ranch in 1975 and other than coming back to visit family rarely go into town. Once in a while, I haul my dogs down there but I hate hunting in the grassburs which that sandy country is known for.
Where do you live? If you ever want to make a hunt up here in the Hill Country, let me know. Lots of bigger ranches but it is mighty hot and dry right now.
Adios,
Gary

Yes Sir, Paul, Josh and I split up and went different directions. Josh was hunting toward me and we were working in his direction. His dogs went to trailing and when we got about a half mile away, mine heard them so they left in high gear, bailed off in a canyon. I was watching them on the Garmin and they went over 900 yards on a string. I could see them stop and now they were running the same line right back to me.
I could not figure out what was going as I thought that Josh's dogs were broke. I tried to send them back in as Josh's dogs had trailed to within 500 yards.
In about 15 minutes, the dogs went to treeing so I again tried to send them in as I walked to the tree. No luck.
When I got to the tree, I went to scolding them like I knew what I was doing.
I will start back hunting lions on Oct. 1 in the Navajo Rez. Bears will still be moving around as it is not cold enough to send them into hibernation. There are more bears out there than lions and you can't waste a lot of time chasing them if you want to catch a lion.
I really like the looks of the female that I picked up at Devine. Did you say that you still have a littermate to her? Male or female?
Are you hunting much?
Gary

I go down and hunt with Joe Braman at Refugio every now and then. We cat hunt there.
