Isn't that against the rules? A guide has to guide on his own without assistance. Luck of the draw is gone. In big hunts like this forget the score. Beat who u draw an advance. Only fair way to go.

No it isnt against the rules to have someone guide u. If u didnt i dont think many would hunt at AO. Me looking for a guide so perhaps i dont have to drive all the way to michigan how is that a bad thing. in order to move on i believe i have to beat who i draw unless u have a better way lol. Luck of the draw is still in, its not like people are picking their cast. Why do u think bryan whitted guides to michigan every yr. cause then u know u wont be dry holed and everyone in ur cast has a chance. How is that wrong? Id be willing to bet with u living in NW indiana u have a guide or guide if u enter.

I could guide near by as I have friends in the area but it's not right. The guide has to guide under his own with no help. I've driven 4 hours to AO just to drive 3:30 back towards the house. Worked out ok when I got beat I was close to home lol. I also drew out where 2 winners in a row were guided and when I had 400+ in the first 30 minutes got dry holed the last 1:30 cause the guide scored 900 the night before. So glad they went to top 16 and Friday only. Now they need to make it Thursday Friday and Saturday and make it elimination style.

If u eliminated everyone that was a guide that had someone else guide them ud have alot of people not be able to hunt.

This has been an issue for years, guys puttin themselves down to guide when in reality they dont have a clue where their going, hired guide goes as spectator.
No doubt that it gives the guys with deeper pockets a better shot, only way i can see to help stop it would be to eliminate spectators at the big events.

In the 2000's i guided 3 grand nationals winners and most of the time who wins my cast places. I use to guide for guys like that but anymore i dont think its fair. Dont get me wrong im not putting anyone down to each there own. This year i will be on a cruise that weekend so im out.

If its "no different than drawing out with a guide there" WHY would you do it ?

Theres nothing wrong with it.I dont care if i guide<another hunter<or the clerk at the store.As long as im in coon ile be happy.Only thing that matters is the dog your packing....

The whole point of finding a guide is so i dont end up driving 4 hrs. And im pretty sure it doesnt matter if im in coons still gotta beat the other 3 dogs in my cast. Id rather draw a non hunting guide that has coons than a hunting guide with no coons.

I don't see a problem either with looking for a guide. I drove 10 hrs last year and hunted the worst public land I have every hunted before!!! I live in SC and we have bad hunting. The spots we hunted at AO last year made me appreciate the land I have. If I lived in IN and had to hunt those spots I would not hunt! Almost every cast that drew from our club saw coon! At first I thought it was a good draw because no one in their right mind would be hunting this land with all the beautiful country in IN!

I think it's fair

At 1st glance I thought that didn't sound fair at all but there really isn't anything wrong with it once you think about it. It's no different than me pulling into a local hunt on sat night with a buddy in the truck, offering to guide my cast and going to all my buddy's spots to hunt, that get's done all the time locally so why not out there?

thats what everybody that goes to ao wants.. but you go were you draw... i aint crazy bout going 3 hrs to hunt after i came 7 hrs to get to richmond but i do it. cuz thats how it is..

so yea i want on the finding a guide page too..
