Scoring ?

I know that a judge is not to except a call he cant hear. What if its reversed and judge strikes his dog and nobody else hears it?

Question it and call for a vote !!! Judge is just another cast member that's carryong the card and that doesn't give him the right make bogus calls !!! Vote on it !

To except or not except a call is a judges decision. So it would have to be questioned if the other cast members do not here the dog. If it isn't questioned it stands.

I would think neither. Shouldn't be any different then if the judge didn't except the call. It would simply not be written down.

He pitched the dog put him on the card ask for a vote 3 to 1 minus him. Other wise start the clock. More than likely just starting the clock on a dog will get struck before the 8 is up and he will never get minused and get away with it all nite stealing strike.

How many times can someone call his dog without hearing it with no penalty? I was on a hunt and one guy treed his dog 4 times with no dogs barking. I suspect he was treeing off his garmin

There is no penalty for it no mater how many times they do it. I strongly disagree with it. I think they should be minused but UKC doesnt think so.

11. SCORING DOGS
(a) Prior To Arriving At Tree. Scorecards to be
carried by Judge (or non-hunting scorekeeper
if all cast members agree) and must be
scored in plain view of all. Dog must open
before being declared struck or treed.

The rules are there its just that some are barried in the print in odd places. Also not all rules are in the rule book.

Hunt Honor Rules
In addition to the rules on the scorecard, the
Official UKC Coonhound Rulebook and the most
recent Coonhound Advisor columns in COONHOUND
BLOODLINES contain additional rules,
statements of policies and interpretations of UKC
rules pertaining to the conducting of UKC events. All
event activities, rules, policy applications and interpretations
are subject to the final decision by UKC in
its sole judgment and discretion.

I can agree with you in part. The not all rules are in the rule book is not correct. Its not a rule if it is not in the book. That is fact. Some things are policies, such as the Often quoted Garmin Rule. Policies are written by UKC to use, normally as a trial thing, or as a quick change thing. The Garmin rules as stated, is just a policy, that could be changed overnight. For an example, scratching for squalling to early is a rule, and we are stuck with it until the 3 year rules package expires.

ALL RULES ARE IN THE BOOK, we just may not understand how and where to find or interpute them at times

Its a no call. If the dog has not opened, and no other dog opened, then there can not be a minus for calling the wrong dog. Pitched or not, its a no call.

Just for fun and the sake of arguement, what about the babbling rule that reads "or has been struck where no track is evident" couldn't this fit this situation?

What if a dog is struck and the judge doesn't hear it. Is his decision final or can that be put to a vote?
