Changing times for sure . Some of it may be offsetting rising costs and some could be a safety factor but the Thursday shows just reflect change in general to our coonhound events . It's been coming on slowly and gaining momentum lately and I predict the bench shows will eventually be gone with the next step fading entries in the hunt until we remember AO's like many of us remember Kenton .
Hope I'm wrong

We have this one at a facility big enough for everyone to park at, then we charge for parking. I don't believe that is a wise decision from a business stand point.
I love to hunt in other kennel clubs but I have always enjoyed the atmosphere better at the big UKC hunts. I believe loafing/visiting is the greatest part of the hunts. I believe we will cause some not to come.

Was it UKC's decision or the fairgrounds that decided to charge for parking?

Camping

Are the camping rules changing as well? I think you used to pay $30 per night or just for any night earlier than Thursday...I can't remember exactly.

I may have read it wrong but it says $5 per car or $2 per person. I am not the best at math but I would guess that the shipping cost for shopping online will exceed that easily.

It's $5. One meal at McDonalds, 2 gallons of gas, a small tip at a restaurant, half the change in your ashtray.

I agree, that's really not a lot of money to be able to go to an event of this size. I could care less if it was $20.00 to get in. I do believe that when it has to go from free to a fee there should be some sort of reasonable explanation to go along with the change...otherwise it's kind of like "bam, here it is, pay or go away!!" People don't particularly like that, even though I know that is not the attitude meant or taken. Many will see it that way and they will probably stay home.
The fee to get in will be less than shipping fees if you stay home and buy????? I am pretty sure the shipping fees are way less than the $150.00 in gas it took me to get there.

This fee charge should deter some animal right activists from just showing up and taking pics.

They'd pay ten times that for a good chance to cause somebody trouble .

First reaction to a change is often negative and $5 isn't much plus if you're entering you don't pay so that won't stop me from something I enjoy as much as I do AO's .
I don't care for the conformation show being there since I view that as not a coonhound event but I realize my time has pretty much past and tomorrow will be whatever it turns into .

Mr. Dale

I agree with you I think our time has passed the good days are behind us as far as the bench shows goes I also agree that a conformation show is way out of place at the GREAT AUTM OAKS a place where we honor the coonhound's BUT as stated our time has passed and so will I pass on this event this year. When the bench shows stop I will also I had a hell of a ride and got a good one now BUT as far as the conformation running around show goes that is not for me.

I don't see anything wrong with it. They do the same at the Grand American and there entries don't suffer at all. And its not UKC's doing. Its the city of Richmond.

And I see why they don't want ATV's. Last year there where kids flying all over the place on them. Raising dust and being wreckless.

Friday & Saturday will be the same and I usually spend most of Thursday looking and shopping anyway . I've never been interested much in Thursdays shows anyway . We usually get there Tuesday and just relax til the weekend . In my advanced years I'm enjoying that more than the competition so we will continue while we still can .

That's correct. There are no changes for camping Thursday through Saturday.

I think ukc should charge $5 for complainers on this forum, they'd have enough to cure world hunger.

I think we all deserve an explenation for the change. $5 isn't much that's for sure, but its the simple point of the matter. I'm going to go back to the knee jerk DNA change. What was the reason there? Seems like we're starting to get nickel and dimed. Like I said, the money isn't the issue...... it's the point that there's never an explenation.

I will be there hunting both nights if these culls are ready. I'm glad to hear it was Richmond charging and not UKC but regardless you know it will keep some folks away
