what's the best brand of chaps/froglegs/waders?

I was thinkin bout gettin a pair of chaps/froglegs/waders. Never had a pair. But thought that it'd be nice to cross some of these creeks up here and still stand the thickest stickers. And preferably made in the usa. Thanks

Ive got a pair of the sunfire chaps. Bekina boots with badland chaps sewn on and they have yet to leak and the chaps are extremely tough. These boots are probably the most comfortable boot I have ever worn in terms of knee boots. But I have read reviews of them not fitting some folks feet.

Wicks out of business

Posted by DFred on 05-10-2015 04:12 PM:

I have Dans five star chaps. They are supposed to be Wick material but I've never owned any Wicks to compare. They are super tough and comfortable on Grub boots. The only thing I can say bad is the boots are tough to get off sometimes, like when muddy. They dont have a heel lug.

good to know

Iv always had muck boots or other brands so I know what it's like not havin them knobs.

To put it in easy terms..Their are ony two major mfgs.right now...Materials and such are made at the same places...You buy from any major vendor you are getting the same material sewn by the same people..Stonecreek offers their customers more of a custom fit with great quality materials..They are a bit higher and probaly worth a lot more..Buy from who keeps you happy and stands behind their products..Cheaper is not always the best and higher price doesnt always guarantee the best..Good luck in your search!!!

sunfire boots with the badlands chaps are by far the best frog legs I've had. Have had them about a year and no leaks, holes or signs of wear and I use them a lot

Kenny, Stone Creek has the same material as the old Wick stuff. It's hard to beat their material. As for boots, I'm like you, can't get more than a couple months out of any of them, Mucks are more like weeks. Can't speak for Bekina or Sunfire, never owned them.

I've had froggers and chaps outlast boots every time. So anymore, I just wear boots with chaps. Works well enough. Once in awhile I'll get in deeper water and get wet tho.

Stone Creek sometimes sets up at Mt Music hunt, you can check out their stuff their.

Boots

Had a pair of Bekina with custom fit chaps for a week & love the way they fit & feel. Just like wearirg bedroom slipper with junk not going in top of chaps. Little pricier, but fit more like Wick chaps used to. Take care, Ron.

John B Dalton

If the boot companies do not have any warranty on their boots ,is it then the vendors place to warranty the products? I believe the old Valley creek company plainly, made a note on their web site, clearly pointing out that the boot companies would void all warranties on their boots if any alterations were made. This would include mounting froglegs on the boots.By the way...what do you know about the new Quatro boots? They do look good.

not sure what the website has ever said..I have replaced tingleys..mucks..aeroheads...bekinas..and rockys as did redgy..you have to draw a line somewhere I guess
.Quattro look good and probably comfortable..heavier than a muck but advertised as more durable

I wear goretex lace ups with chaps, I get atleast a year out of a pair of boots and if I don't go in higher than the boots my feet are just as dry as with rubber boots. That probably wouldn't work out so well for guys hunting the swamps but around hear I barely ever have to get wet.

creaks

Round here where I hunt were non-stop crossin creeks knee deep. And I'm tired of gettin wet.

I can't believe, no one on here said a thing about using the Lacrosse Grange. They are like wearing tennis shoes. Lightest and stays put on your feet when walking. Never have to put up your socks.

Agree. Truly my favorite boot for most of the year. Just not great in the cold.

.

I would say 90% of the people cannot get a Lacrosse Grange boot on their feet. They have the tight ankle fit and most people today are not built like those 20 years ago. If I could wear them I would.
