t-shirts

Who would be interested in a new line of coon hunting shirts? I see many deer hunting t-shirt companies and very few coon hunting shirts. Price range would be $14.99-16.99. Would like to get some feedback before spending the thousands of dollars necessary to get started.

I guess it would depend on what was on the shirt. I'm not real big on T-shirts myself but if it had a really cool picture on it I'd bite.

no lie man ive thought about this for awhile now, there is no good selection of coon hunting shirts, you have the old school going deep for the meat type shirts you see on ebay but cmon there is really not that many decent coonhunting shirts out there, the coonhunting shirts out there need re vamped, Id go for it!!! my wife has wanted me to start designing t shirts but honestly it would probably just take away from my time in the woods and we cant have that

im huge on t shirts man any time i see a vendor at work im asking for a free T!!!

Just an idea. Make some for the Leopard Hound folks. I believe you'd have the market cornered.

If you had one with a red and white english dog on it that said
"I only speak English" I'd buy it.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. We have quite a few in mind and yes, there needs to be a new line of shirts out as the ones out there aren't real good. Deer hunters can't have all the fun. Lots of ideas and hopefully we'll be able to launch in a couple of months.

Never too late Jim. There's always room for new and original!

.

cpatt88 I don't want to sound negative but I want to point out some facts.
Remember this. To sell one t-shirt you have at least 7 in stock. The 7 in stock means selling one t-shirt is a loosing process. That is if you only sell one color. If you sell 5 different collars you have to have 35 in stock to sell one shirt.
Let me explain. You don't know the size of your next customer so he may be a small, med, large, xl, 2xl, 3xl, or 4xl. Because you don't know if that customer wants white, red, blue, green or gray. You have to stock all of them. I have some experience selling these products and you have to have a high inventory or your not going to have what the customer wants. High inventory also means you can generally get the product at a lower cost which is good for you but you have to have storage space and be able to keep the dust off the shirts.

Not sure if your were looking at heat transfer or screen printing. Heat transfer probably would be the way to go. I hope you are aware that there are hundreds of companies on the internet that have programs set up that anyone can upload a picture and they can make a heat transfer and send to them. Of course the more the cheaper. It would also be something for you to look at. Here is one company that I could order a design from today and have in just a few days. http://www.stahls.com
There are also hundreds of companies that individuals design a shirt on line and they send it to them so that is your competition.

Everyone on here that said they wanted a special shirt could have one in a week. All they had to do was take a picture of their dog. Edit the picture with the words they wanted added with one of the many free computer editing programs and send it off to one of these companies. All done over the internet and delivered to your door.

All the employees at my store had a meeting the other day discussing this. I would love to have a second tent set up at all the large hunts selling t-shirts. When we looked at the bottom line PROFIT. Just wans't in site. Like mentioned Rodney with Milling Port Supply already has a pretty nice line of shirts and clothing and hats and he is at most of the hunts.

Now here is what I think would work. An classier line of clothing geared towards the ladies with a lot of BLING. I think there would be a market for that and the profit margin could be a little higher.

Last but not least. Any and all of these companies mentioned and all of them on the internet offering products not mentioned are your competition. BUT what separates them from you is your desire to make it WORK. If your willing to work hard and put together a family structure that supports a time consuming business like this then GO FOR IT. I say time consuming because our customers demand quality products and in the world of instant everything they want them the next day. You know what, they are the customer and they are right. If your willing to meet that demand GOOD LUCK.
I you would ever like to talk on the phone just call my store as I am there about everyday.

My wife helped me for about six months when I started and then complained I was too demanding. I told her that I was putting her in charge of Human Resources and if she didn't think I was fair for her to go talk to herself. She fired herself but didn't remove herself from the profit sharing plan. LOL

Good Luck!! Let me add this. Don't never let anyone tell you something won't work or you can not do something. If you want something bad enough anything is possible. If you wanted to be the biggest tee shirt seller in the country it is possible if you dedicate your life to it. Not an easy road but if you want to travel it then go for it. Anything other than thinking big and being driven will not lead to success.

Here is a you tube video that might be interesting.

Bruce,
Thank you for your words of wisdom. I realize the struggles of owning a t-shirt company. I just think there is a market of hunters that would like funny and/or original t-shirts and apparel. I have researched and can't really find the type of coonhunting shirts that I would wear. As a hunter, I am always wearing some type of hunting shirt. Usually it is a Buckwear shirt.
I want to be that person that brings the quality of shirts to the coonhunting world that Buckwear has brought to the deer hunting community.
If there is a market for the kind of apparel I want to bring, I will find out soon enough. I have had this on my mind for 4 years and finally told my wife I would hate that I was scared of failure never having tried. I'm not afraid of failing, just not trying.
Once I get this line started, you will be the first to get a free shirt. Then we'll see about getting these in your store!!!!!

I love there design it's very clean and NEAT ! I can wear it to a nite hunt or to a nice restaurant.i think they are out of TN or GA . My grandfather has several shirts hats and 4 hoodies from them that still look new after 15 years! Lol quality quality quality !!!! And that's what it takes so kudos to yall on a outstanding quality t-shirt ! Very well pleased with mine 👍🏻
