Hunt question

Just would like to know this for future situations. Didn't effect the outcome of the cast I was in.

If dog is shutout on strike and not treed but is treeing when cast arrives. Dog was struck in with a line under it. Coon is seen. Is this dog's strike deleted because it was shutout or minused for coming into a tree where coon is seen?

Thanks

Minus
Rule 4f no dog can come into tree after 5 min has elapsed if they do they are minus on track, nothing on tree.

Oh my goodness......

Woops

I guess I should read questions more carefully before putting my $.02 in!
I just realized he was shut out on strike. I guess 5g would apply (delete)

Posted by DFred on 05-02-2015 06:55 PM:

4f doesn't apply to dogs shut out. 5h and 3e does. I say delete. But I'm not sure as to the reasoning but would like to know.

Delete what? It has no strike points. Only a few reasons you ever delete points and this aint one of em.

dog treeing but not declared treed will recieve next available tree points an minused. you will delete his strike points because he was struck after first dog treed. they will b minused

They only get tree points assigned and minused on slick tree or off game.

Dogs that are shut out must still be struck. 3e. So that dog has strike points recorded

Posted by groworg1 on 05-02-2015 09:24 PM:

page 43 of advisor states 4d no additional dogs maybe treed on that particular tree after 5 has elapsed (so no you don't assign tree points ) page 57 shut out you do not award strike points to a dog shut out ! so the answer to me is this dogs strike points would get DELETED !

Posted by GA DAWG on 05-02-2015 09:31 PM:

I agree with that. He didnt have anything to minus so I was wrong. You cant do nothing. Just leave the line through it.

You NEVER, EVER assign tree points unless dog is on tree when you arrive AND it is a slick tree or off game situation. I can't believe how many people don't understand such a simple rule.

Points would be deleted in this situation because dog was struck AFTER other dog had been declared treed. Take care, Ron.

Thanks for everyone's input, I agree the way I read the rule book it should be DELETED, yet I have some people still arguing minus it. Corey/Allen could you please clarify this for eveyone for everyone's future nite hunts?

Thank you

Delete strike.. award next available tree points and minus if coon is seen.

hey ROLIN BLUES.. i did not see were it said coon is seen. i thought it said coon is not seen... so before you make smart remarks about a rule being so simple to understand.. maybe you should ask if they read the question right...... thanks clyde

lets put a twist in it since more can't seem to figure it out then can ! dog is shut out on track but is treed before the 5 is up now what ?

Posted by Rolin Blues on 05-05-2015 01:51 AM:

Sorry walkerman75

Didn't mean for you to take it personnel. Just can't believe such a simple rule can be so hard to understand. Just look above your last post & see Ths74 give the WRONG answer after the right answer had already been posted.

Ths74- You NEVER assign tree points if coon is seen or a circle tree. Dogs at tree treeing when you arrive will be assigned tree points only for a SLICK TREE OR OFF GAME situation, never under any other situation do you ASSIGN tree points.

Have a nice evening, time to go hunting. Take care, Ron.

Scoring strike

The first sentence said the dog was shut out on strike, and the second sentence said the dog was stuck with a line under it. There is a DIFFERENCE...

its the same thing a dog is shut out when another dog is struck and treed before second dog opens on track when second dog is struck it gets a line under it indicating shut out on track and will not be eligible for track points on first dogs tree now if the second dogs trees on different tree its strike points would be scored according how tree is scored plus, minus or circle

Strike points would be minused because coon is seen. However, the dog is shut out on strike and therefore has no strike points to minus. Strike points remain deleted because the dog is shut out on strike on this tree.
