Hooper Ridge Hang'em High-In Need
I have some very scary news to share about my Gr.Nt. Hooper Ridge Hang'em High Holly.
Last night while hunting with some friends we found Holly treed at about 800 yards. Upon arriving at the tree we found Holly had climbed up a big leaning tree that had fell over into another tree. She was about, 30-35 feet off the ground and treeing where this big tree laid into this smaller one. She was unable to turn around, and we were unable to go up to her. After weighing all options we decided to call our friend Bill who works for a tree trimming company. It was about midnight I'm guessing but Bill never hesitated, jumped into his clothes and came on the fly, with ropes and climbing gear to help rescue Holly. We had to met Bill up at the road so as to take him back to the tree. Upon arriving back, Holly was no longer in the tree. We found her about 60 yards away, lying in a ditch and struggling for breath. My friends Nick and Mike went to the side by side and drove that thing down over the cliffs to the bottom of the hollow and all of us hoisted Holly up on to the haul box and started out of there. We transferred her to my box and Off we go looking for medical attention.
Well, the vets says Holly has 3 broken Ribs, a huge blood mass that is around her heart, a huge hematoma on the top of her shoulder blade, and a very busted up gum line, but we cannot see anything else broken besides those ribs. I have her home right now on different meds and am hoping and praying she recovered from this severe tragedy.
Oh by the way, that danged coon was sitting about 15 feet above Holly's head when she was way out & up on that tree trunk.
Ole Holly & I could sure use a little prayer right now that she make a full recovery from this most unexpected mishap. I would not normally ask such a thing on behalf of my dog, but this Ole Girl is a once in a life time coon catcher & friend.
Thanks to you all for reading!!

To you Kenny, Jim, Frank, Dave, Dee, and Doug. I thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. In all my 40 plus years of hunting I have never lost a hound due to an accident while out hunting. I guess I have been extremely lucky.
It means a lot, hearing from my fellow hounds-men such as you guys., Each and every one of you know the bond that forms between a man and that special hound.
To you Bill, words cannot express my gratitude to You for coming as fast as you possibly could, to help a fellow hunter in the middle of the night. And then to feel the compassion of You, Mike, and Nick, for the pain and anguish I was going through while watching Holly lie there and all of us thinking she was taking her last breaths. You are right, when I reached down to give her my final good bye's it seemed as if something stirred in her to say, hold on boys, were not whipped just yet, and up out of that ditch she came. I was a little shocked to see her do that as at that point I thought she wouldn't last two more minutes.
I am truly blessed to be surrounded by hunters such as all of you. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Holly seems a little stronger today but She has no appetite yet so hoping that comes around soon. I moved her into the basement for the next few days. It seems as if She would rather be there than in her kennel. Again many, many thanks to all of you. Hopefully we will see all of you between now and English Days.

Hate to hear this Dave. Will pray for Holly a full recovery.Them goods ones are like our kids.
Hope she has a full recovery Dave, I had the same thing happen Friday night my dog fell from about 40 feet but luckily he landed in the perfect spot and on his feet and is just sore. You probably dont remember me but i met you at the Winter Classic in Albany GA back around 2008, I was hunting my Chain dog at that time. I had hunted against Mr Koons with one of his Plott dogs and he introduced me to you the next day.

Thanks so much Brian & Michael. I cannot thank each and every one of you enough. It has now been a week and I am now seeing improvement daily in Holly. Though she does have a long ways to go, it is now looking much better.
Today when I was running fresh water into her water bucket, she actually barked a couple times like she always does. When she hears me running fresh water, she knows its feeding time as well, and I was happy to hear her try to bark, even if it was only at half volume.
It means a lot that good folks like all of you and so many others would take time out of your day to send prayers to me & my hound. Thanks again to each and every one. God Bless You all, and wishing EVERYONE a very HAPPY EASTER weekend!!!

Hello John, So good to hear from you my friend. I sure do want to thank you for your most gracious thoughts. Hope your still having fun chasing them english hounds. I was laid up from August until march with knee surgery and then the bad weather. Now that the weather has changed for the better, Holly decides to climb up a tree and then fall out.
Man I'm starting to think this coon hunting is testing my patience, LOL
