Get alpha to show road names

Got a friend with alpha that show road names instead of numbers. How do u get that setting? Only diff i see is when go to map: adv setup: zoom levels on that page has these settings astro stn 52 Carthage 6 and dutch under each title. He doesn't know how it got on there and i cant get those settings

I want to know too

Road names

Do you have the Birds Eye on your alpha? I think that has something to do with you not being able to see the road names.

The Garmin topo card show road names. Sometimes if a road has no name just a number then it will show that.
Road names and numbers appear as you zoom in. If you see a road and you don't want to zoom in the place your cursor on the road and it should give you the road information.

Birdseye is just that. An ariel photo. No road names unless you run it with a topo map and they then overlay on one another.

Bruce mine has numbers on 90% of the roads but they all have names.

i can zoom all the way down to 10 yards and still dont get a road name only a number. the only difference i can find is the settings that i listed above, when you pull up the options to get these they are not even an option. my alpha is a about a year older than this one but i would think they would have the same map on them. maybe someone can provide feedback. thanks

after doing some more looking and talking to the guy with the alpha, here is what i have found. He has the TOPO US 100K V5.01 version map and also has a middlesboro, ky-tn selection when when you go under map setup - select map. in order to get the road names on it he has to disable the middlesboro, ky-tn map. i dont have this option on mine and dont have that version of the topo map. he has only had his unit about a month and half is the only difference, i've had mine about a year. does anyone know how to get these maps on the alpha? thanks

On the alpha the map comes preloaded on it. Mine shows road names down here. If you see another map as you described in the map listing he must if installed it. Does he have a map card installed in the SD card slot under the battery. If so remove it and see what happens.

Mine like yours probably does for the TOPO maps says TOPO U.S. 100k
