West of Atlanta

Been away from coonhunting for a good 20 years. A buddy gave me a couple of pups I would like to maybe start pleasure hunting. Problem is, i live close to Atlanta and dont have any contacts in this area. Im looking for some fellow hunters out there that are not too far to maybe start hunting with. Anybody around close to Douglasville/paulding county?

Mulkey, where at in Marietta are you located? I live in canton but work in Marietta.

Grunk, their are several coon hunters out in the Douglasville area or not very far from their. Whitesburg and Waco have a club as well as Cedartown.

I found the club in Bremen, I think they have an event coming up soon. I will probably go check it out. How is the hunting out at the paulding forest and little river?

Paulding forest has been my favorite hunting spot since 2005. Its mountains. But is HUGE. Miles. I really like it. Its closed now. Come august we can meet and go some. Its my main hunting spot. The dog I got now is just a pleasure type dog.

I like room to hunt. I cant stand yard dogs barking. Busy roads close by. Houses. I hate it.

I hear ya on the noisy dogs. Kinda takes away from the hunt. The pups i have are still young (7 months). My buddy gave them to me from an accidental litter he had from his gr nt female in hopes that I would start back hunting again. They still have a lot of puppy left in them. Im mainly looking just to pleasure hunt right now.

Sounds good to me. That's all im doing right now. I got a dog that can sure tree a lot of coons but she trees possums too but It don't bother me none , I pet her. LOL Im just having fun pleasure hunting, coon hunting and possum hunting. Paulding forest is beautiful but very steep. Right now I really only got one hunting spot as of tomorrow. From August through Febuary I got Paulding forest and then march 1 through 19 you can hunt Sheffield after kill season to just run your dogs. Paulding forest is about 25,000 acres.

Gotta be better than Dawson Forest. I will wait till about Nov though. Is it infested with rattle snakes like Dawson Forest? Ive killed a truck load of snakes on it.

Paulding forest

Paulding forest has 25,707 acres and Sheffield has 4800 acres primitive wilderness area, no vehicles.

I live in Marietta City limits but am surrounded by Kennesaw mountain national battlefield park. 1700 acres right in town. Cut the dogs from the yard, though there is alot of coyotes and deer to tempt the dogs

I started coon hunting around 1995 or 1996. Started coon hunting Paulding forest in 2005. I've never, ever, not one single time, at NIGHT ever seen a poisonous snake. Not one. Thank GOD.
