Starting my pup

I have an 8 month old bluetick female, she has hunted out up to 500 yards with my old dog but the old dog has been missing lately.. So then I go with my buddy, she hasn't warmed up to his male and won't go further than 50 yards from me. The other night my buddy's dog is treeing and we walk in and my pup runs in there and checks it out. We're shining the tree and I notice my dog is gone.. Check the garmin and she's showed treed 50 yards away, I hurry over there and she's got her feet up on the tree and has two coons up there.. My buddy's dog comes running in and slams the tree, we tie him back and try to get her fired up and assure her she had it right. She never opened up but got distracted by the other dog behind her barking. Any suggestions on my next step in getting her going?

Most importantly, Put her in the woods as many nights as you can! With or without another dog.

if you get the chance shake one out to her. hold her back and let the coon get a head start.

Once she strikes her first track and finishes under the coon. Loose all them old dogs and solo hunt her hard!

Id ditch all other dogs now.and single.her out before a million other problems arise

Every time you hunt your pup or dog for that matter with another dog you run the risk of your pup learning a bad habit. Hunt her alone until your ready to put her In the hunts. Then start hunting her with other dogs to get her used to that.

Doing it the other way around will cause more problems then good.

I've been hunting her with the other dogs just so she'll actuallu get out there and hunt around because she'll follow my older female.. If she's by herself she won't really hunt too far out from me. So I'd be better off just letting Her figure it out with no older dogs?

Yup just drop her right on coon very early when she starts treeing those, start casting her in thinner coon this is when they learn to range. I would be more concerned with her abilities to tree coon right now. Worry about the hunt later, IMO.

Thank you, I started realizing she's coming along when she knew the coon wasn't in the tree and took it 50 yards further to have the meat. I'll try and put her on some hot tracks and get her to open up
