UKC DNA Changing

I was just wondering why UKC is changing there DNA business to another provider. My understanding is the new provider will now show numbers and not letters and there is No Way to cross reference the numbers to letters. So for you customers that were comparing your letters and watching a pattern on your dogs DNA will now need to start all over.

I'm assuming that someone who knows far more about this topic will weigh in for UKC but I can tell you that the reason for change was strictly to provide faster and better service to our customers. The new lab is University of California, Davis. The UC Davis lab is also the one used by the Thoroughbred Racing Assn and some of the large bovine associations. Their turn around time on samples is amazing as is the wide variety of things they are able to test for. It will shock me if all other canine registries do not follow suit.

I'm not really sure who needed their dogs DNA in such a hurry? Maybe they can pay the extra $40 for my dogs DNA. So from now on if we have dogs registered in UKC and PKC were gonna have to pay twice, 2 separate samples. PETA won't have to try and shut us down, we're gonna price ourselves out of the sport. JMO, and venting a little.

I think this will only effect Next Gen litters...

It would reasonable to allow Sires and Dams to be rerun with the new Company for either no charge or discounted. Giving us the reference we need to justify parentage.
