I hunted there. We hunted a large paper mill. Flat ground, wet, thick in most spots. Seemed to have a good coonpopulation, we treed Afew right off the tailgate.

YOU WILL BE IN FOR A SHOCK

I bet U ain't never hunted in stuff like they have down there(tye dyes) I think that is how U spell it. I have a real good friend in Port ST Joe just up the beach and Man is it WET and THICK and WET and then U leave the road it gets a little THICKER and about another 20 yards in it starts to get realy THICK If U don't have a cane machette don't even think about going , getting out is realy easy just follow the path U cut in and U WILL cut your way in garonteed. It is a blast though go down there every year and tree a bunch. O I don't remember did I say it is WET also and go in the winter there are plenty I mean plenty of them crawley things laying around. Not to mention them gators. Go and have a blast you won't forget it.

I use to Bear hunt the Apalachicola National forest and it is no different than any of the rest N Florida and S Georgia

For Coon hunting i would look for smaller areas or have dogs that would spot hunt. Personally there are places that I would not care to go a couple of miles to a Coon tree in the Apalachicola

Snakes and Gators are no worst than any other area.

I haven't been there since the Bear hunting closed so I'm sure there are more roads and probably cut over tracts.

Bottom line===If you hunt that Forest, be very very very careful and have fun. I spent some enjoyable days following Bear dogs down there
