Interesting, I guess one day our garmins will be replaced by cell phone apps.

If we had 100% cell phone coverage in this country things would be totally different. There may be a Garmin System but it would probably use the cell phone signal instead of the vhf signal it now uses. You could track your dogs two states away. lol
Lol yeah we're not there yet, but I will imagine sometime sooner then we think. Just crazy. I was talking to a neighbor that just purchased a new smart phone, and his phone is now faster then his computer. I'm not much into tech stuff but it is quite amazing.

Tracker was about to release to US market a Cell phone GPS Tracking System until they were sold. System is still being used overseas the last time I looked (Tracker Finland).
Before Tracker sold out to SportDog, I field tested their GPS system that used a cell phone with special dog tracking software.
Was able to track a collar on the other side of the country that someone had turned on. In testing with collar that I had, the farthest I tested was 20 something miles with it.
What was Tracker here turned into a different company now (Tracker Security). The new company is out of the dog tracking business. One of their GPS units they still use was the GPS that was on the dog collar that I had field tested.
