BEAR dog
I am going to focus on a strain of Plotts I am currently hunting so I am going to let at least one dog go to make room for pups. Cletus has been one of my main bear dogs for the last three years or more. I broke him and then sent him to moose to clean up. He is hot to medium nosed, rigs a hotter track. When hunted as a trail dog his nose is better, but I mostly just pack him. He is a better jump dog than a trail dog. He can be walked through an area with bear sign and can usually come up with one. He runs a bear faster on his own than in a pack often. He is an above average tree dog, but will pull off the tree to you with loose dogs. He is a superior bay dog and works a bear tight on the ground. He rarely gets cut but will get cut on the muzzle or in the shoulders. He has been on some very very rough bear and has scars. He had a bladder infection resulting from wounds and had to be castrated due to a swollen gland. He is faster than most but not the fastest of the fastest. He is very intelligent and that is one of his biggest attributes. Put your hands on him to collar up, tell him to load up, put him on a track, pull him off a tree, walk him to truck, tell him to load up, then just take the collars off him at home. Put your hands on him three times type of dog. He has been called as far as 9ths of a mile with the wind in his favor. He is extremely laid back and almost never barks unless its on a bear. He holds up well to hard hunting and has treed his own bear on the coast and in the mountains. Water nor rocky slopes hold him back. He has never pulled up slick... He is not a one dog pack, but has performed well with every pack he has been with. Been on 100-150 stopped bear in the last two years.
Do not call me if you do not have cash in hand. I'm too busy to field calls from tire kickers wanting to swap hunting tales. I won't waste your time you don't waste mine.
