The you have to update it right out of the of the box or could I use it the after the collar is charged

You shouldn't have to but it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and do it. That way you'll know it has the most current updates and you'll have a handle on how to do it in the future. most people don't keep them updated like they should.

Ok I'll update it today, I can't wait till I get the map card
