heat

That's the problem, we decide to finally breed her and she hasn't come back in. Maybe not meant to be

Put her in a pen next to a female in heat, she'll be in in no time.

I got one, but i didnt take her to my local vet.....Took my bitch to a vet that "specializes" in reproduction.....

That was 5 yrs. ago....she's fine now and raised 4 litters off her, to date !

I would do it again if I had another one worth doing it too.

Good luck

Dog whisper

What did he do for her? I've had a couple the had weird heat cycles. I had one that didn't come in for 7 years. Finally she came in. Another would be 6 months or a year or 18 months. I have one now that every 7 months she would come in until I paid in advance a stud fee. It's been 18 months now.

Posted by psiskjr on 02-10-2015 04:50 PM:

I used to do it and things may have improved medically since I quit. Some females did just fine. But some had screwed up cycles for the rest of their lives. They would come in heat every three months whether you needed them to or not and some would stay in heat for six weeks. I wont do it again unless I have a super bitch that wont cycle.

Posted by RLenhart on 02-10-2015 04:58 PM:

There was a thread on here a while back talking about rasberry leaves making heat cycles more regular. Might sound like an old wives tale but several people were saying they tried it and it worked. The one guy said he got berry tea leaves and put the tea on her feed. He said she loves it and it evened her right out. That thread wasn't more than a month ago, you might want to look it up.

As a human female, I know that doctors tell you to rest up and not get so much exercise if you want to get pregnant. A lot of female professional athletes cycle less frequently, especially in endurance sports like long distance running. My advice would be to hunt her less or at least more gently for a couple of weeks and see if she comes in.
Also, feed her more. Somehow the body knows it doesn't have enough spare calories to support pups and continue to hunt real hard, so it skips cycles..

Good info Emily, I hunt my dogs ten months a year at least three times a week and they run as much as eight hours a day. They have low body fat. I will try that with a female that I would like to come in as soon as the others get back in action.

Posted by timdurkes on 02-11-2015 01:48 AM:

female

The only thing we have done different with this female in the last year is change her feed. I switched to Ultra 24/20 She has missed last 2 cycles. She gets hunted quite a bit every year and has never missed till now.She is in top shape. Doesn't make sense. Finally decide to breed her and she doesn't come in. Imagine that!

Posted by Dick BRothers on 02-11-2015 04:57 PM:

put her back on the feed you were feeding her before ,worth a try. and stop hunting her so hard.

Posted by psiskjr on 02-11-2015 06:30 PM:

If that works let us know. I feed 24/20 also and my two females dont cycle regularly. But my problem is probably line breeding too tight. Also I think it is hereditary. One female two or three gens back only came in heat twice in her life. One of my females is her granddaughter and has never cycled in three years.

Posted by jeffmaggart on 02-11-2015 10:57 PM:

this will work

Tim, tie her up in your back yard and don't watch.
Guaranteed she will come in. 63 days later the proof is there

Posted by timdurkes on 02-12-2015 12:36 AM:

Dick

I am going back to other feed on her, hate to she does good on Ultra. And I'll quit hunting her so hard when you quit hunting Mike so hard LOL I hunted with Gary Cook the other night, he said he was breeding his bitch to Mike.
Jeff, that would be my luck

Posted by Dick BRothers on 02-12-2015 01:44 AM:

got me on that one Tim!! lol

Posted by Dick BRothers on 02-12-2015 01:51 AM:

Tim, You might also call Dean Bitzel at Nevergone and talk to him about your problem.
