Diamond Jim pups in the oven

I got Dixie bred to Jim. I'm excited about this cross, and hope all goes well. Jim is UKC performance nominated. I think the last time Dixie was bred she had 11 pups, and raised 10 of them. I am hoping to have good luck with them. I've had several calls on Jim, and pups out of Jim. I will keep everyone posted. Good hunting to err-body!!!!

what u askin for them

Posted by Craig Edwards on 02-04-2015 01:05 AM:

Thanks Bill!!!! I sure hope so!!

Since this will be Jim's first litter, I'll probably ask somewhere around 150.00 for em. Jim is not a blind shot for me. His sire was the best young dog I've ever raised, or hunted with. I would look at him and think, I can't believe he's mine. He died at the age of 2 from kidney failure. I know and have hunted with the dogs on his mothers side. Dennis Shephard made the cross between one of his females, Smokey River Bell, and his male, Trapper, and it proved to be a real good cross. He made the cross several times, and produced good dogs each time as far as I know.

I told my wife the other night I thought Jim was as good as his daddy. Went out last week, and it was late. Jim struck an unusually cold track. He never ran the track, but drifted it out of hearing, moving several yards between each bark, when all of a sudden he located and fell treed. Jim is pretty good about having the coon, but I had serious doubts about this one. When I got there, he was treed up a tree than had blown down against a pine tree. I shined the pine tree, didn't see anything, so I blew the squaller, and two eyes looked right back at me. I felt like I owed him an apology.lol!!! I got that one out for him. Some people don't like that kind of dog, but that's what I love!!! Take em hot or cold, and finish em without taking all night to do it.

Thanks Shane!!! I enjoyed talking to you too!!!! I feel good about this cross. The female has only had one litter of pups, and they were showing interest, even treeing at 4, and 5 months old. One man was offered a good price, by a walker man, for his pup at seven months old!!! The pup was doing it all at 7 months. I think, if I heard right, the walker guy tried to buy him on two occasions. I hope it goes good. Thanks!!!

I did receive it, and if all goes well, you will get your male. I'm excited about these pups. The mother of these pups has only had one litter, and the pups from that litter started very young, and are doing good. Jim has been doing good. He's been doing a great job on cold tracks. Treeing coons, not just trees. I have high hopes for these pups. Should look and sound like hounds.

Thanks to everyone for the calls, and interest in Jim, and these pups. Had several phone calls, and pm's and I appreciate it.

Wow!!! It's very kind of you to say that. If no one else enjoyed it (which everyone did) I think I enjoyed it enough for everybody. I met some really good people!!! The fellowship was wonderful!! Looking forward to this year!!!

Had several good phone conversations this week. I don't remember all the names, (can't remember my own half the time) but it was really good to talk blue dogs with all of those who called. Heard from some old friends too. It's all good!!!

I had one call from a man in Oklahoma, who was good friends with Warren Haslouer, and Ira Fleetwood. He hunted with old Diamond Jim, the old original True Boy, and several of those older dogs. If I understood him correctly, he bought the Rambler dog when he was a young dog. He knew Mr. Palmer, the owner of Diamond Jim when Warren bought him. I enjoyed talking to everyone, and thank you for calling.

Craig Edwards is a great man very knowledgeable. Me and my dad went and met with him he had tons of great advice on blueticks. After talking to him about the cross I think it will produce many quality dogs. On a personal level he seemed more than happy to talk dogs with us and crack a few jokes. Thank u Mr. Edwards for your time
