Super Crosses

It seems to me that there have been several super crosses popping up here lately. I am not sure but "it seems to me" that this is beginning to happen more often.

Steve-O X Chilli
Guitars Ghost X Sister
Banjo III X Heidi
Rocker X Roxy
Shock X Amber
BTK(semen) X Amber

Are there any more? Who are the 3 titled dogs out of Rocky X Dot and Rocky X Bembe?

I thought that the B III X Heidi and Steve-O X Chilli crosses had Hoffmeister's Rusty Red in common? I looked at the 4 gen pedigree for all of these dogs and I didn't see Meltons Red Fireball. What "Fireball" dog are y'all talking about? I guess that it just depends on your perspective. The B III X Mandy cross was a good one but I was thinking about crosses with at least 3 or more titled dogs and 1 or 2 of them being "UKC big hunt" winners. I was also thinking about crosses that were already "proven" not ones that were "going to be". Can anyone think of any more? Surely there are a couple from the Northeast.

Posted by Sawblade on 02-02-2015 04:17 PM:

There are

There are getting to be many "Super Crosses" I would contend that most of them have the following in common.

They contain in their pedigree, many top reproducers both male and female and they show former crosses that history has proven to also be a super cross. It pretty simple really. Stack a pedigree with proven reproducers from proven crosses. You have many diffrent lines you can choose from to do this with. Your odds are very good it will work.

Super Cross

Chase x Zukie

2 pups that lived to hunting age

Both titled and both winners

100% titled winners

Does that make this a super cross ??

Dirty Joe

Otter she finished to nt ch in 5 hunts with 2 1st place wins and a 3rd and has never been in another hunt.

Just wondering what are the qualifications for a super cross

Kelly other than the three I mentioned, who are they? I thought that also, but I am not seeing the "super cross" background in the three crosses above. Is either Ghost or Sister from a super cross? How about B III or Heidi. How about Steve-O or Chilli? Do any of them have any big hunt winning littermates? Am I missing something?

Isnt this a super cross with a super cross background? Didnt Rocker come from Little PepperXMoonlight Kate who also produced Burning Pepper and Pepper Ann. So by your definition 3 titled dogs in a litter?

Whats Roxys background look like?

Were there any other titled dogs in the Little PepperXMoonlight Kate cross.

memory

Richard, I'm just going from memory here ,I will check tonight.
Heidi I believe is out of Shady lady who was once on the Top reproducers list as is Heidi, Lady I think shows Rusty Red very close.Rusty Red was a long time #1 reproducer.

Jessie is loaded with the Rocky/Maggie crosss and also shows Music /Twister I think. Both of those are super crosses.
SteveO has the Hoffmeister/Zack cross that is very proven doesn't he ?

I guess I have to look all this up now. I believe you will see that these dogs are what I call Soup. The best of several lines put together but with proven crosses as a foundation.

Gen 2 Maxx x pep Ann 3 titled amber over all nat days
Gen 3 btk x amber 3 titled billy over all southern days
Btk also off super cross over all red days

ace x Kate 4 titled shock several big wins
Bo x deana 3 titled britt over all southern days
Shock x amber 2 or 3 ? Jim bob over all nat days
I think these meet all your criteria as super crosses Richard 3 or more titled with one winning a major ukc event I can think of several with similar breeding that just miss your criteria but time will tell

As Kelly said there is a pattern
Look at the outlaw Bj x moonlight woody cross study the ped

anyone considered the Jon Henry X Missy cross? I bet that will be a nice one.

Or are we talking about ones that are old enough to know?

lightning x speed queen produced 1 grand and 3 nightechs. Sherman won first at a rqe with 50 dogs entered and has won high scoring red male for one night at redbone days more than once . joe,s chrome dog won high scroring male at autum oaks . raider won a 500$ added $kc hunt .not sure if that's classified as big hunt winner or not but if so that cross meets you criteria

also , meltons red banjo x meg could be a super cross. he won national red days. they produced bozo, Goshen moe, banjo 3 I THINK they are all from same cross but different litters but not 100% sure. they all have won red days, autom oaks and other major hunts . big jim won opposite at southern days, john henry won major $KC hunts both are off banjo 3. theres a line of big winners in jims pedigree both top and bottom. I also see a pattern there

How about Sawblade Fiddle .....I know she was a great reproducer...were any of her crosses considered a super cross? I sure seem to see her name in the pedigree of a lot of big winning dogs....

Shane

Maybe someone should do a study on Fiddle and not only her offspring but also her grandpups and even now her great grand pups…To see the family tree and how it was put together and the winners, You are right, there a lot of dogs that came through her that are doing some powerful winning. Maybe it could shed some light on how genes have lined up or played out. She is in my dogs pedigree and I am glad. But I do believe that careful selection of stud dogs has been to her credit. I believe she has put the coondog in a lot of dogs and by breeding to certain males has added to or taken away from this coondoggedness. I know this by some of the crosses I have made. Some just better then others with certain studs. I guess we will have to see if Kelly will spill the beans on his opinions. Hope no one gets offended. At a minimum we could list the family tree… It might be fun to add dogs to the tree and see where it goes…Not sure if she has been inducted into the NRCA or the ARCA hall of fame but that was what I was thinking when I looked at my rebooks this year. May be interesting to develop trees for other females… Some one with a better grasp on this computer should set it up. Lucas

Kelly and Todd, I see what you mean. Although the litter some of these sires or dams are from might not be considered a supercross, the litters that their sires/dams are from might be considered a supercross. I guess that sometimes you have to look back a generation. So, maybe we should list the current studs from super crosses.....
Rocker
Shock
Big D
Jet
Rocky
Deuce
GD Red
Haze
Rip Saw
BTK (semen)
Turkey
Who am I leaving out?

Posted by Richard Lambert on 02-03-2015 04:39 PM:

I forgot about Rip. He has only been bred once hasn't he? Which supercross is Hersh's Billy out of? Has Bow been bred to any females? I haven't seen them advertised as a stud. Who are Clouds titled littermates? He certainly has a supercross pedigree. Bo is gone, sadly.
