How do you know??

I'm sure everybody has run across somebody that was just talking out of the side of their neck. My question is how do you know if somebody is giving to you straight or just talking out of the side of their neck trying to make money of off the dogs name or the way its bred?? I would really like to know don't want to pay money for a dog that's not going waste my time in the woods.

Unless you know the person is truthful, hunt the dog.

My buddy that I hunt with he's an older guy always tells me that because some folks that hunt today are just looking to make a quick dollar just because the dog has a certain stud or two name in the pedigree. Plus just like you just stated it makes a lot of sense to know the person personally to.

If you dont know em personally. Dont believe anything they have to say. Cant believe some of them you know. Once you've been around a while. You just know. It ain't like it use to be when men stood by their word!

Thats what I'm saying I've been around coondogs since i was about 7 or 8 years old and I used to want a dog based off who the dog was out of because I read about the dog in a magazine and that's I'm 24 now and my buddy (the older gentlemen) taught me recently to look at what a stud dogs offspring and see what his pups are doing so even though I've been in this great sport awhile I'm still learning

X2 on what Ga Dawg had to say on this subject . Just because a big name dog is in the pedigree doesn't mean your buying a winner . If at all possible hunt with the dog 3 or 4 times on wild coon ,not feeder buckets . Don't buy a dog off the chain for $1000.00 because he is asking $ 2000.00 on trial. If the man won't show you the dog hunting ,put your cash in your pocket and move on.

Yep and thats how a lot of breeders do these days I see try to talk you out of your money there's no way on God's green earth I'd do that to a potential buyer wouldn't it make sense to tell them the truth that way they would come back in the future
