poll: Hunt Averages
How many do y'all think enter a normal Ukc hunt (I'm not talking RQEs and breed sectional hunts, etc.) Normal average hunts? Thanks!

This is amazing. I can remember hunts with 80 to 100 dogs when i was a kid in the 70's. And every cast had a non hunting judge. I can remember good dogs that tried their whole life and never made Nt Ch cause they couldn't win a first place. I remember one good dog that had 18 second place wins before he won a first, and he was old when he won that. He got a standing ovation when he got his trophy.

our club Rural Coonhunters at Greenwich Oh. usually get 20, that is for both Ukc & Pkc, we are fortunate to have a lot of hunters in our area, but the numbers are down from a few years ago.

It looks like we're averaging around 7-12? If I went to an average poorboy hunt and there was 12 entered up, most around here would say that's a great turnout!

We probably average 10/12 dogs on our November/February hunts, depending largely upon the weather. Our March hunt usually 12 to 16 dogs, our May hunt, 10/12 dogs, our July hunt, 10/12 dogs. Our September hunt 12-14 dogs.
How do clubs keep their doors open with anything less that I have no idea, as we are just making ends meet and that about all.

It helps but most of time you're just breaking even in those too! Our AKC hunts are just about the same as our ukc hunts. About 2 or 3 cast.

Our club (Wyatt CCC) averaged over 15 for their 7 UKC hunts ths past year plus another 5 or 6 on the bench. This was down from the past when that average was steady at 20-25.
I get the sense that many have just thrown in the towel on entries. Wholesale changes to hunt formats, easier paths towards titles, give them more while asking for less will fix the down turn in entries?
UKC has made significant changes already in recent years. You can now enter with no card and no papers. Clubs can offer added purses. Gas cards, jackpots, calcuttas, all of these things are now allowed by UKC.
A very simple and totally voluntary jackpot of just $5 can provide cast winners with all of their entry back plus gas money if the entrant chooses to buy in.
So how many clubs out their have explored these possibilities?
Instead of canning the UKC we have known for the last half century, hows about putting more into using what we now have to offer in bring back more entries?
