Rules question.

if a coon was way out on a limb and the dog went to the tree and then out directly under the coon continuously barkin up. Would they get minused?

Reason for askin. I got a young dog that's got all the tools to win. But she trees the coon not the tree. If the coons on the trunk she's belly up on the wood. If it's out on a limb. Shes on her back feet under the coon. Then back to wood. then directly back under the coon.

The dog only has to show the end of the track where the coon is...as long as by the actions of the dog you can tell where the coon is you should be O.K. I say should be because there are people out there that will do anything to win. A while back someone started the phrase "the dog must be under the umbrella" of the tree. This is not a rule and is incorrect but many dogs got minus points because of it. U.K.C's official position on this is, "we don't legislate tree style."
If the dog is way back barking in the general direction of several trees to the point you really cant tell which one is "the tree" then you will get minus points.
