Almost Lost A Good One!
I don't know how many nights I've hunted and heard Coyotes the next ridge over, or fairly close to our hounds. I've heard stories, and read posts where dogs have gotten attacked by Yotes, even thought they ran my dogs out of a holler one night, but luckily we've never had a real issue with them. Tonight changed that! Mac was run off a tree by a pack. Man those screams, howls, and cries are miserable. Luckily he wasn't killed or hurt to bad. He escaped with several cuts, and puncture wounds, but thankfully he'll be ok.
I've got a couple tracer collar lights, but I've never used them. It got me wondering that maybe those collar lights would have scared them off. Does anyone else use these? Surely it couldn't do anything but help.

I got a garmin pro 70 with the lighted collars. They dont seem to come in as close now. When the do get close they seem to leave. I believe the light has helped me.
The general consensus is they do, but there are exceptions.

A guy hunted with me the other night and asked me if those blinkers helped keep the coyotes away. I said well, I believe they do. I haven't had a coyote mess with mine for years and we have plenty. Mine are those $15-$20 lights that just slides on my tracking collar that has a battery and twists on/off.

I'm glad Mac is OK. Your brother was with us one night they chased Jake back to the truck and we saw the yote, ask him about it. Tom uses those lights and has never had a dog bothered but he leaves his turned on instead of blinking.

They chased Jake and Edge out of the woods one night at the Lake. He's going to be ok, that's the main thing. I've got the lights already on the collars, hopefully that will scare them off.
