old dog of the past wld ntch grnt bellars pac-man

I have been out of the sport since the early 90’s and really liked the old blood hounds and just don’t see much of it in all these dogs advertised now these days. I liked all the Hillbilly Mack bloodlines, Diamond Jim, & the Bellars Pac-Man blood. I see MR. Mike Shannon has the Mack blood still going with his line breeding, but what about Diamond Jim & Bellars Pac- Man who has those line's ???

I also got out of it back in 94. I hunted a few walkers and had redbones back then. I started back up last year and wonder the same thing...what happened to all those old blood lines?? I guess the guys that had and promoted them cant go on forever. One thing I was surprised to see, although he didn't really have very many pups as big name dogs go, less than 200 and not a very high percentage either. But a blood still much talked about and much sought after today is Logan's Wild Clover. Many people thought he was flat out ugly, but I like that look. I really would have thought that the Yadkin River, Finley River, Lone Pine, River Bend, Hardwood, etc. would have been a lot more talked about and seen in more pedigrees today but it doesn't seem so.
Still, there's old Clover and even if you don't go after that line, most guys are glad to see it back in their dogs pedigrees today.

Some of that old blood is still around, just a little hard to find sometimes. A friend made a cross last year with Diamond Jim in the fourth gen, and I am still hanging on to quite a bit of FR Chief stock.
You wont find it in most pedigrees like you did back then, but it can be found.

yep the old blood is still around , just the names were changed to protect the innocent lol . I hunted hard and wide and finally found what I was looking for . I made the 8 hour one way drive and am happy as I can be that I did . I bought me a couple of pups m/f that are loaded on the bottom side FINLEY RIVER and out of the rat dogs on top . I think it will be a good combination .

Robert,
I have one from a cross that I made that is the opposite of yours. FR on top and Rat/ Skuna River on bottom. I am pleased with him, very balanced.

I had a son of Pac Man back in the day.

Hard tree dog, good mouth, extremely athletic hound with a ton of drive.

He got early retirement for being ill.

I think that would be a different Diamond Jim, friend.

I'm sorry there bud. I knew I was on a walker page and just thought is was a peculiar seein that Diamond Jim name. Don't know much about walkers. But a friend of mine at work hunted many years ago with walkers of the riverbend name and is looking for anyone that may have any of this old time blood.he wants to get back into coonhuntin himself.
