What gloves do you use

I am looking for some all around work/hunting glove. Nothing real bulky but decently warm and somewhat water proof. I don't want to have to take my gloves off to pick something small up. I have been thinking on the carhartt insulated driving gloves.

catalog

I use these for work as well as hunting. Check the catalog out.

Blake-

I wear just a pair of rawhide leather gloves when I hunt. They protect your hands against the briars, etc.

One major plus- they resist smells! You can handle a dog that has caught a skunk on the ground or their collar and you'll never smell it on your hands and the gloves won't hold the smell at all. I don't know what it is about them but they have saved me many times.

Anything Nylon will hold the smell like a sponge...even if you don't touch the dog

purple nitrate rubber cloves with a pair of jersey cloth gloves over them.
after you see how well this works I know you will try to stretch a pair over your feet too.

Mechanic gloves. Warm enuff, can pick up small things, and water proof as long as you don't dunk them. About $15 anywhere.

I used to think that and hardly ever wear gloves but as I got older the skin on the backs of my hands is thin. Now I lose gloves and reading glasses

Gloves bother me too. It has to be very very cold for me to wear them. I always heard you can tell a real coonhunter by the scratches on the back of his hands anyway.

around here single digits is about as cold as it gets and still have any sort of decent coonhunting. same as snow, for the most part down here if its on you might as well forget coon climbing down because they only see it a few times a year for a week or two at the longest. if it gets frigid cold or very much snow (and not be warmer and it melting) they are just going to hole up and wait.

even when we hunted up north in BFE, north of St Cloud some dang place, and was below 0 I just couldn't stand to wear gloves. Heck I don't even wear the to do chores with let alone hunt.

the only time I wear them is when im setting steel traps, and half the time not even then.

yea

I live in the South .....briars galore...I wear gloves...all of yall " tough " guys would too if you hunted where I hunt...or you could spend time digging thorns out of your hands:-)

Posted by BlueDrifter on 12-21-2014 04:59 AM:

My preference is leather. I don't always wear them but I usually have them with me unless I've forgotten or lost em. They're nice in brier thickets. I don't enjoy digging thorns out of my body either Franks

I intend to wear them but usually don't. the thorns here will cause an infection. any time I get stuck the tiny end of the thorn will break off inside the skin and will begin to ache and become infected. I have to pick that little speck out.
