Something weird happened

Tonight, took one of my hounds out. Ran two tracks And then on each track just shut up. Waded in and found him standing at the tree. Had the coon both times. I mean he chopped some, but very very little. If he hasn't been on the tree I would have never known. Can't figure out why. I will take him out again tomorrow night and see.

I have a female that has done the same thing. The first time I was only about 40 yards away and I know there wasn't any coyote's around. Two days later she did it again hunting with a friend and his dog , and the other dog stayed treed.

Marpal not after midnight, it's all public ground then. Plus the no trespassing signs flip and say welcome coon hunters

i have one that gets hot and tired that does that some mostly in the summer but i got her to fat and she did it even after the weather cooled down. cut back on her feed and made her loose weight and it made a huge difference. i didn't even see i had her to fat. i was hunting her ever nite but she was just to fat simple as that.

Dog not barking on tree

Could be EAR problems. I've always check there first.
Maybe even some thing in mouth.I had 1_one time that used to chew a little at tree.He got a stick wedged across his top of his mouth.He would open on track but would shut up at tree.

I'm with Davis. Ear problems will affect treeing. When a dog has fluid from an infection on the ear drum it creates pressure when the dog raises it's head. Any head shaking around the kennel or tree?

Ear problem.

You know, now you mention it. I have seen him shaking his head when he eats. I will get him to my vet this afternoon. Never really thought of it. At least he stayed at the tree. Thanks for the information.
