Rodeo Red Trip (Skinny/Pistol)

Here's a youtube video of Trip on a coon tonight.
Trip is a Skinny/Pistol pup around 8 months old. I got him from Derek a few months ago. He hunts as hard as any red pup Ive been around at his age. Has a head full of sense, kennel quiet, a good mouth, opens good on the ground, and seems to be able to move a track fairly decent for his age. He is starting to locate, and has nice hard ringing chop mouth on the wood. He has everything a pup his age should have. Only fault Ive seen to this point, is he very very seldom comes back in. 9 times out of 10, you have to catch him in the woods or pull him off a tree. He's not a bit shy, just hard headed and doesnt want to quit. I know this was a big litter, and I was just wondering what the rest of the pups were doing?

Brett

I had one here I called Twerk that Mr. Nate Ratcliff has now. Last I heard she was a little timid but coming along.

That should be a good cross to watch as we head into the future. I spent many nights behind Pistol in the woods and he was one of the very best young hounds I ever hunted with.

Pistol's ma-ma wasn't too bad either

Trip

Trip split off 2 dogs tonight about 70 yds with the fur. Held the pressure like the other dogs werent even in the woods. Im super impressed with this young dog. I would love to know what his littermates are doing.

Cory

the rock is- work, starting my own business , hunting, training pups, checking 3-4 hours of trap line, and keeping the wife happy, then wakeup and doo it again

All reports are good on pups, seen some nice video of young dogs looking like coondogs.

I need more freezer space for all the fur!!

how about the pup you got

Trip

Here's some more video of Trip and my 2 year old female Polly from last night's hunt.
http://youtu.be/FUuQG8VF-fM

Trip just turned 9 months old and is coming along nicely. He is out of Derek Metzler's NITE CH Skinny female and Justin Krasa's GRNITE CH Locked and Loaded Pistol. If anyone knows where the rest of these pups are and if any of them are for sale, I would greatly appreciate the info.
Thanks and Happy New Year!

THAT IS AWESOM TO SEE!!!

Posted by Derek Metzler on 03-03-2015 05:47 PM:

bjenks I know where most of the pup went but I don't believe any are for sale. I hope to make this cross again but have not seen skinny in heat yet.

Trip looks like he is what you wanted.

the dogs up in PA haven't hunted in a very long time, it will be like starting the training all over.

over 100in of snow so far and counting, 38in on the ground in my back yard, can hardly see dog houses or should I say dog igloos.

Derek

So far Trip is exactly what I've been looking for. I've had so many pups over the years that just wouldn't hunt, that I about gave up on the Redbones, but with this stock of dog, hunt power is not an issue. In fact, there is almost to much go power. Trip was really doing a great job, until all this bad weather hit and just like you said, we might have to start all over. I hope not, but we'll see soon enough. Hopefully, we can get together and hunt soon.

Glad he is making a solid hound for ya! I hope he turns out to be every inch of his daddy's go power and tree power, with his mama's good looks and good sense

Nice work with this cross Derek, keep it up!

Justin Krasa has one, Derek Metzler may still have one too.
