Who Would You Like To See Featured In Coonhound Bloodlines ?

Who would you like to see featured in your upcoming breed issue of Coonhound Bloodlines? Any particular dog, bloodline, kennel, breeder or handler you would enjoy reading about? Coonhound Bloodlines magazine is interested in your suggestions. Now keep in mind some of the ones that will be suggested may have been featured in the last couple years. Try to make recommendations you don’t remember seeing featured recently.

Historical suggestions for both dogs and breeders are great. Current dogs, breeders and handlers deserve to be acknowledged. Let’s hear your suggestions. Can’t think of a better group to ask than those of you most active in the breed!

Feel free to post them here or submit your recommendations to editor Vicki Rand.

Gayle Flowers...And the dogs of Fire Creek Kennels
Chad Nay...And the dogs of Rocky Creek Kennels
These two have been in the English dogs a long time,They don't get on here a lot and blow their own horn so most of us don't know the story behind these men and their dogs.

GOOD CALL!! I think he deserve it. His hound, NITECH ROCKY CREEK BO has reproduced the ONLY "UKC" WORLD CHAMPION ENGLISH FEMALE and has ALSO has fathered AND graddfatherd other hounds that have placed in the top 10 of the ukc world hunt and other major hunts!! He also has reproduced hounds that have reached the top of the English reproducing list," such as GRNITECH GRCH ROCKY CREEK SPIDERMAN AND CURRENTLY AT THE TOP WLD CH NITECH ROCKY CREEK JESS!!
One of Bo's granddaughters is the 214 PURINA winner!! This man and his hounds need to be recognized in our bloodline book!!! I'm happy that you guys are doing this. Chad nay will not brag about what his dogs have accomplished in the past 20 years by him and the handlers of the rocky creek line, so I hope you can put it in righting for him!!!

Have to agree with that one. I saw a great pic of him on the forums and that pic would look great on the cover.

All the men listed above are very deserving in being featured in Coonhound Bloodlines and our breed would not be what it is today without them. I don't see a single name listed that I would not take the time to sit down a read a article about. I do however feel that one person in paticular has not been mentioned yet that is VERY deserving. I noticed that Todd said it could not be someone who has been featured in the last couple of years, so he may have been featured and I missed the article is why he has not been mentioned.

Rory Cowles has done what a lot of us only hope to do one day. Rory won a World Championship in 1992 and did it when english dogs just didn't win World Championships. He then won Reserve World Champion in 2011. He then won World Champion English in 2014 with a different dog and the accomplishments go on and on. I do think that Rory has earned the right to be in any discussion when we are talking about the english greats.

Randy Leonard I doubt there has been many men that have won as much with English dogs as Randy. He has also raised and trained a many of top hounds.

Posted by ncedavid on 12-07-2014 02:33 AM:

Rory Cowles
Randy Lenoard

i like Jims comment on Randy not a harder hunter I know of, Rory is in my opinion one of the best breeders.

Posted by Longwoods Kennel on 12-07-2014 06:22 AM:

My vote would have to go to Stanley Nichols. Stanley has accomplished more in the last 10 years than many of us do in a lifetime. NICHOLS TREE SPIKE, MAINSTREET ROY, MAINSTREET JACK, MAINSTREET JOHN THE BAPTIST, MAINSTREET MAX, UPTIGHT SPIKE, MAINSTREET MAC and the list goes on and on of hounds that are out of ROY or are NICHOLS TREE SPIKE bred.. ROY won as much as any hound in the history of competition hunting and sired MAINSTREET JACK and UKC WORLDCH. MAINSTREET JOHN THE BAPTIST. As we all know, JACK is well on his way to being one of the greatest studs of all-time and Stanleys MAX dog is at the top of the reproducers list. Without Stanley Nichols' contribution to the English breed, I believe we would still be behind, but because of his contribution we are now the breed to beat, right there with the Walkers.

Others that I feel have made major contributions......
Larry Wilcox
Gayle Flowers
Randy Leonard
Asa Briggs
John Ferrari
Jim Ridge
Richard Moore

I'm probably forgetting someone but my vote goes to STANLEY NICHOLS!!

Everyone mentioned are definately huge, but I believe they have all been covered. I would like to see Carl Carol covered. Not only due to the fact he was feeding about 5 world titles at the same time, but more importantly what he has done for the youth in his community and his community itself.

One of the greatest English storys not often told, is that of Grand Lake English and Darrol Burrows.

Ton of fun to hunt with, and I have never walked away from one of those hunts without learning something
