Too late

I had a 2 1/2 year female gave too me , she's breed real good .
The problem is she's never been off the chain !
Is it too late for this dog?

No it's not to late. I've started several later than that. I have found that when started late you find out what they have very quickly.

Not at all

You will probably have good luck with this dog actually it should catch on very quickly and not have alot of fears that pups have...good luck and happy hunting

Try it. If she was free there should be nothing to lose except a little time and feed. Keep your expectations low that way you won't be disappointed. Good luck

Nope

Treat her like a 5 month old pup and trainer as if she was 5 months old. Could take right off in 6 to 12 months. Sometimes it is amazing how fast these kind make a dog. Just remember she is green and probably will be for a while.

I have seen one of the best coon dog men that I know take 3 littermates. Never hunt any of them until there 12 to 14 maybe even 16 months old. Start them one at the time. Hunt each for 30 days and all 3 would be treeing coons within the 30 days. He said at that age "they don't want to play"

Best hound (redbone)I ever had...got her at 2.5 years old. She had hunted a few times with other dogs, but was basically a green dog. Within a month she was treeing her own coon and by the end of her first season she was as accurate and fast as any other dog I had hunted...
by the next year she was unstoppable!

Older dogs don't mess around like pups

She's a redbone.
