Getting started back

I'm lookin to get started back hunting. My first hound was a plott and he was the best coon dog I have owned. A buddy got me started comp hunting and he wasn't that type of dog so I lost interest in him. Now I want to start back with plotts and need some direction. I would love to get established and raise my own stuff eventually. My first dog was given to me by a long time breeder and he was exactly what he was bred to be. Easy to handle, medium hunting, track driving, meat hanger. With some experience now I prefer a little more drive. I know some guys around that big game hunt. Is this where I need to look? One of my good friends has a hound that is the best I've seen and got him for free cause he wouldn't pack.

I would not get a coon dog out of big game bred dogs. a lot of the big game dogs don't have locating skills like a coon dog bred .if you are looking for a young dog right now there is a nice pup out of my male dog for sale in the classifieds on this form call me if you want
