30 year dream fulfilled.

After dreaming about taking a bull Elk with my bow for 30 years, I was able to connect on my first ever Bull. Laying down on an open sage brush hillside all evening, this bull final pushed his cows to 8 feet of me. After they passed my feet, I draw my bow still on my back. He stopped 12 yards just below me to get in a wallow. I sat up but was unable the shoot through the sage. Still at full draw, trying to get to my knees, I lost my balance and my bow caved in on me. The cows spooked and he jumped up out the wallow and ran up the opposite hillside. Trying to draw and get on my knees again, I fall fat on my butt. Well that really got him move up hill. I stopped him with a cow call and ranged him at 65 yards. By the time I got the bow back again, he was headed up hill again. Once again I stopped him and settled my 60 yard pin on his back bone. Everything slowed down as I watched the arrow arch to him and disappear around the third to last rib.

Awesome Bull

Nice job partner, I killed a beautiful 5X6 at 26 yds. with my bow in 2009. Self guided, public land, packed him out from 10,000 ft. It was the most satisfying accomplishment in my entire life of hunting. Good job, savor the moment- I can tell you that memory will never fade! Way to go, hope you can go again. Even if you don't kill an animal, just to be in elk country is a pure blessing from God.
