Mountain State Blueticks / Like Father Like Son
[/URL
This is my Mountain State Big Buzz dog. I haven't given him much of a chance the last couple of years but I've been hunting him quite a bit lately. He is chop and bawl on track and a hard, loud chop on the tree. He doesn't use much mouth on the ground unless it's hot. When you cut him loose, you pick him off a tree most of the time. Buzz is off the last litter out of my old Bud dog and Hanson's Bandit Blue Buttercup. He is heavy Morris' Blue River Boomer, top and bottom. I have no plans to breed him although I may raise a litter of pup's out of him later if I get the right female.

This is my old Mountain State Big Bud dog. Bud will have been gone 4 years this Oct. 4th. Buzz was born the night Bud got killed. Buzz favors Bud quite a bit, in more than just looks. There are many good coon dogs from Bud and different females. I miss him every time I go to the woods.
I just wanted to let people know that I still have a couple dogs and I'm still hitting the woods. I'm also hunting a young female I got from Russ and Dan Downing. I call her Connie and she's starting to do things. She's a real looker with a nice mouth. Connie is off of Duel Ch. Downing's Treein' All Blue Duke and Russ' Treein' Blue Drum.
On a side note, if anyone knows where I can find a female out of Bud and my old Ch.Nt.Ch. Moore's Mountain State Bonnie II, please let me know.
Thanks, Ron
Good looking hounds Mr. Moore. Ive never had an all blue before but might have to try one in the future.

Mr. Moore what traits were dominant in that line of hounds? i'm looking to make some outcrosses with several different lines and would like info on what you think are the best traits your dogs pass on that might would help put something in mine. if there is anything faults that come along with it please fill me in cause mine have them too and don't want to double up on them.
thanks Eddie

Wow Dan!
Danged if you don't have a bunch. Those are some real lookers. Our pups down here out of Duke are doing well. Tim's male is really turning the crank, a real nice tree dog with a good mouth. My little female was really slow to start and I even considered letting your Dad have her back but all at once, she started treeing the cat. Now she's going with Buzz all the way to the tree, and believe me when I say, tagging along with Buzz is a chore all in it's self. LOL. Anyway, she starting to run track and tree some now. I think she's gonna' be fine. Those are some really nice pics. I am going to get some more on here soon. Have a good one.

Hi Ron Rose Bud is a buddy agreement. Carl told me to price her and I did with stipulations. The papers are still in my name. He is a good old boy that Has bought his last three dogs from me and has kept and hunted each till death do you part. He is 72 and still hits it hard in coon season, we have known each other for over 30 years now. Great friend! We hunt together a good bit during kill season. Rose is a beautiful hound! I can raise a litter from her if I would choose to do so. We should talk sometime. Take care.
Ron It's MS Bud and MS Brandy . Send me your phone number and ill send you a video or pics .

mr. moore, seeing that ol' boomer went back to grant stock a good bit your description of that lines hunting style didn't surprise me all that much. my big blue/gascon stock goes back pretty much to the same stock of dogs. I was wondering if you had noticed one trait in particular. it seems that lines throws more dogs that are good at treeing layups. no track, just going along and falling treed. I've had several that would tree on scent pocket as it fell to earth. terrible for a night hunt but for just an old hide hunter like me it's something I like. I've heard of some Vaughn or old joccassee valley stock that did it but not as much as the dogs I've seen stemming from grant stock.
Jha
I haven't witnessed much lay up ability although Bud was great at winding a track from quite a distance. I noticed some of our dogs just falling treed sometimes but I believe that's just due to tight mouth. My old Bonnie II (Cassie) was very good at laying one up. The night I finished her out, she just fell treed and had a coon that the other dogs couldn't even open on. She was an open dog. If I could think of one trait that was dominant in our dogs, it would be stamina. Don't seem to be any quit in them. Thanks for the post and have a great day.
Ron
"ALL BLUE BOOMER DOGS"
I love seein these,all of'um!!
There is some pockets yet of "The Good Stuff" I'm happy to see bein maintained & built on!
Ron, the females from that cross where later starters but I kinda expected that. Not the females per say but the litter. Mine, "Betty" has an unreal mouth on her. LOUD hill ringer.
Good Luck with "Buzz" & "Connie"!!!

Sorry
I haven't been on here in a while. Last Monday, my huntin' partner, Tim and I went hunting and had a good time. 4:00 AM the next morning I woke up with some pretty bad stomach pain. I missed work that day and later that night I got my wife out of bed to take me to the hospital. Unbelievable pain! I was diagnosed with appendicitis. At 5:00 AM, Wednesday morning, I was on the choppin' block. My appendix had ruptured. I just got out of the hospital Sunday. You talkin' about an eye opening experience! I'll be on the back burner for a while. I should be in good shape for coon season. Man, I was really gettin' some quality huntin' in too. Oh well, I'll get back in it before you know it. Happy hunting all. This weather is great.

What got me started
This is the ole raw boned dog that really got me hooked on Boomer dogs. This is a pretty old picture. That's my son and me with Nt Ch Moore's Simpson Creek Blue. My son will be 40 this Oct. 7th to give you an idea when this picture was taken. Blue was directly out of Shelton Morris' Boomer and Hanlon's Bell who was a grand daughter to Sabastian's Penny. The differences I see in now' a day Boomer stalk and him is the one's I have seen today aren't as trashy. Still have great stamina and tree power. This pic sure brings back a lot of great memories.
I sure would be interested in seeing some dogs that is out of Bud or goes back to him or just hearing about some that we may not know of.....Ron
