stud dogs with low spearm count ?

I heard fish oil/cod liver oil would boost the count back up?

I have a dog that was checked and had low count
,dog had bred a female 2-3 weeks earlier ,
still waiting on the results on that cross and another before that one.

dog is healthy looking, around 5 yrs old ,

what have you used that will build the count back up.

Exercise .

Posted by wildbill on 09-14-2014 11:26 PM:

he's on a setup like the sled dogs have,he used to run the chain bad but has slowed down about half and has put enough weight on to look good, but still runs enough to stay muscled up.

so he's getting plenty exercise,, just need something to build his system up.
eating 21/10 feed 5 gallon bucket of water in frount of him,
had on feeder but digs feed he don't eat out of feeder and covers with dirt till he gets hungry again, took off feeder.

We give a Fish Oil Tablet Once a Day

I've heard give Mackerl. Have done this from time to time. You can get that at the Dollar Stores/Freds/Wal-Mart in a pouch. Was told by a Breeder that he give's Wheat Grem about 30 days prior to breeding the Male. We have bought the Wheat Germ at the Health Food Store in a lb. bag for $3. Sprinkle on Food. It's cheaper than buying at Wal-mart or Grocery Store in a Jar. We do this to our Males & Females. We bred one of our Males (9) to one of our Females (almost 8). 1st time no pups. 2nd time (Ages 10 & Almost 9) after Wheat Germ & Fish Oil. PUPS.

This hot time of year

thru the summer months and into early fall is not the time to evaluate a hounds semen quailty. Unless housed indoors and kept fairly cool, the semen is always going to show most of the time poor results due to the temperature outside. When it get's to the point where the outside temp or kennel area temp reaches a males body temp, in such a case at times can destroy a males sperm count as much as 70 to 80 percent leaving one to think he has a low sperm count but in reality, the heat destroyed the viable sperm that was stored in the testicle and it normally takes 60 days to replenish the supply. Here's a product that is used alot and is very successful of creating and building a more mobile, viable and improved sperm count. Breeder's edge Oxy-stud! Just google it up and give it a try. If evaluating a studs total sperm count, early spring and late fall is going to give you the best results!Good luck with it!

Mr. Shrimsher just gave our Jimmy dog a product called Red cell and brought his count up from nothing to a super high, very mobile count. Jimmy turned 10 years old in February.

thyroid

I'd have his thyroid checked too.
Its becoming a normal in coon hounds to have low thyroid.
Vet{s} don't know why.

Then try Dog forte'.Full of vitamins dog food can't give.

The thyroid doesn't come into play with males reproduction quality. Females to a point, yes, males no!!

Funny,it sure did mine.
His thyroid was so low it was almost off the chart.
Something like .09
Normal is 2.0 - 4.0
He's a totally different dog now.
5.5 yrs .Acts half his age now.{Still a dead loner}
Went from very low semen count to a normal semen count, size and quality.Just bred my female.

Or, maybe it was the Dog Forte' I give him?Whatever it was, he's back!!

In all reality, maybe you thought it did. At Michigan State university, they did studies and destroyed the thyroid from male dogs and it had no effect as far as sperm quality or count. Here's a seminar by one of the top world reknown reproduction vets in the world. Anyone that has a concern about fertilty and reproduction in dogs in general,I suggest you copy and paste to your favorites. They just don't come alot better than Dr. Robert Hutcherson period. I have worked with him on 2 hounds,he knows what's up! Here's the link to the seminar!!

Thanks Doc. Danny

FYI;My vet. came from MSU and owns her own office.

Must be I made it up?Act of God?Miracle?

All I know is "Everything" got better after thyroid problem was fixed.Totally changed the dogs life...period
Another funny thing is after prev. owner and a handler found out he has good semen again, they both asked if i'd sell him and how much!

The coon hound world would be amazed at how many of their dogs have low thyroid problems and don't know it.
I'd bet 40%.The test is easy and cheap.Pills are cheap too for the results.
But,If your too lazy to give your dog 1 tiny pill 2x's a day?
You probably shouldn't own dog{s}.

people would be shocked at what all thyroid controls in a dog let alone in humens, but pat save your breath because you and i have both been through it but it was not the problem because someone says so.
