thanks zone 3

Thanks to the club and all the guys who judged and guided. Had a tough nice Saturday and my cast didn't get to put any plus points on the score card, but I had a great time both nights with great people. The main thing is I had fun both nights. Congrates to everyone who made it through and good luck next weekend. I'll see ya next year.

Zone 3

I had a great cast on Friday night...2 other GENTLEMEN and a LADY. They conducted themselves well. As for Saturday...I knew I was in trouble when I drew a couple of the most controversial handlers at the hunt. "Rumor" was that the one individual in the cast wasn't allowed to judge or guide there. This individual was known for putting casts in coon. I would have had no problem with him as a guide. We were assigned a young guide. Our first drop was in some of the worst hunting I have been in 35 years of this sport. We waded weeds, brush, briars and redbrush for the first hour and fifteen minutes and saw one coon. While we were scoring a tree at our second spot my dog had swam the river. While they were debating about calling time due to the fact that one of the cast members had asked how close was the road on the side of the river that my dog was on I looked at my Garmin and determined there wasn't much of a woods on that side (less than 150yds of woods) and my dog was not far from a major highway. Being down two coon and not wanting my dog smashed I told the judge to withdraw my dog and called him in. I offered to stay with the cast but they all reassured me they would be fine. After I left, I was informed the next morning by a cast member, the judge took the cast back to the club and demanded a non hunting judge as he felt we had "ganged up" on him on a babbling call on his dog.. He gave no inclination of that when I offered to stay. I talked to the individual that won the cast the next morning and he informed me that the MOH had no problems with the one individual that could have guided the cast and that the judge had requested a guide. The cast winner told me that the judge did it because he didn't think his dog could compete in a shoot out with the dogs that were in the cast. Whatever was the case it made for a bad night of hunting and put a sour taste in my mouth.

I didn't win a darn thing this weekend and it's been a long time since I hunted in a U.K.C. hunt for numerious reasons, haveing said that if every hunt was like the two cast I was on this weekend I would hunt in one every weekend. Good dog work by all seen every coon that was scored on no problems no grown men acting like little babys handlers took there points good or bad without any questions. Club did a good job as they always do and had good guide's that were coon hunters that new were the coon were at.

Thanks for the good remarks! I appreciate the feedback on our club! We always try to put on the best events in the state!

As for Randy... I appreciate your feedback too! I know you must have had good hunts last year as well because you came back! I hope you that you don't let that one bad night keep you from coming back! I always like seeing you around and shooting the breeze!

Its great to see remarks such as these. Its the kind of hunters that I like to draw out with. Even with no or minus points they see it was about having fun.

As a club member who helps with the hunts, we can only do our part..the coon has to theirs.

there will always be good ones and bad ones. Thanks to the cast members who hunted against trip and I for being true honest houndsmen. Hope we hunt again in the future.

Randy, you're not the only one with a sour taste. There were plenty of folks that way.

Joe, good to see you got your eyesight back...

Our guide never showed on Friday night, so we had to ad lib with a kid that never coonhunted.

Saturday, our guide had us keep turning loose in the same woods all night.

I will say that I drew and met some good guys and didn't have any problems at all on either cast, other than the dog I hunted falling apart on Saturday.
