Pennsylvania Bobcat Success
Anyone having success running PA bobcats? Myself and a friend have been for past couple years and last year had tough time putting them in holes 90% of the time. We had opportunists to shoot them on the ground, but wanted a tree. We hunt near Warren, Sinnemahoning, St. Marys. Big hills and rocky in places. Always looking for suggestions or new hounds. Thank you.

Pa cats
We hole 70 percent tree and bay up 20 percent 10 on ground just the way lots of ledges and quarry dumps. If deep snow tree and bays go up
Thanks Manhooker,
If you don't mind, what kind of dogs are you running? Just curious, we are always looking for new ideas.

Plotts
Been running plotts for 20 years .tried and had all breeds plotts have been good to me never had a bad one I'll run em till I die!
I run curs and my dad runs plotts. Both do a nice job but I won't be trading out anytime soon.
Thanks!
Thanks fellas, I appreciate the input. I am not a "breed specific" guy, although I do know that hunting PA bobcats is much different than hunting Michigan cats or Wyoming cats and not many people have been in the game for a long time. You guys have any contact info on breeders or possible sources? Thanks

There's is a fella that lives right by Warren that has Plott hounds. I think he hunts all Pocahontas Plotts. I was going to breed my bitch to a stud he hunts last year but the timing wasn't right for me to travel that far so I bred to a closer Pocahontas Stud that was equally as good. His name is Mike Zimmerman
bobcats
There's a fella on the cur and fiest section that hunts cats with some cur dogs in PA. Don't remember his name or handle. Maybe you could try over there
bobcat
In our neck of the woods 99% will not stay treed when they hear you coming to the tree, most run them a couple times to figure out their patterns and then ambush them on the run.

Never had a problem with them jumping. Only one in 7 years. As far as people breeding for cat dogs in PA, I don't see it happening much. With our short season and limited cat numbers it is tough to have a dog just for cats. My dogs are nothing special, just a mix of different mtn cut blood lines but they catch their share of cats
The little bit of hunting I did was pretty good, got some good runs but we had a few porky's at the end of it! OUCH
