Neutered male competing in bench show
Looking for an answer, I've heard a couple of different things, can a spayed or neutered dog be entered in the same class as a not spayed or neutered dog in the bench shows. I've heard they can't even be shown I've heard they can show but need to show in a separate class and not for any points. I went to a bench show tonight and a neutered male competed against mine and 2 other dogs in the champion class, is that allowed? Thanks for everyone's help
I think your looking for this:

On page 45 read rule number 22 and that should answer your question.

I saw that but I also saw at the bottom of oage 51
It says spayed and neutered dogs can compete. But doesn't say if they show in the same class or what. It's a bit confusing. You think they would make all spayed or neutered dogs show separately
A cryptorchid or monorchid is a male dog that only has one testicle descended, the other is in the body cavity. That is a disqualification, however a neutered male can compete. Theoretically if one wanted to compete a cryptorchid dog they would just get him neutered. In many cases it would be impossible to know whether a female is spayed or not without asking an owner.
The book says this:
"Note: Spayed and neutered dogs may compete in all
UKC Licensed Coonhound Events, including bench
shows, nite hunts, water races and field trials."
I don't see why they would need their own class, the breed standard is the same regardless of whether they are spayed or neutered. Some dogs need altered for health reasons example: pyometras in females or prostate cancer in males. The only real difference is those competing with a neutered or spayed dog are doing it for more pleasure purposes and not titles for breeding purposes.
emcgee,
Is right, if they are missing a testicle then that is a disqualification...But if they have been Spayed or neutered they still may compete in the same class as other hounds..Pup, Jr, Sr, CH or GR classes.
