2014 BBOA Bluebook

Hello all,

To Members - I will be designing the 2014 BBOA Bluebook again this year. I just want to let people know you can start sending in your ads, the deadline is October 15, but I LOVE to get ads in early so they don’t stack up around the deadline. Please tell me the size of the ad and what zone you are in, and if you have any special requests when it comes to layout of the ad.

To the Zones - please send zone events to me as soon as they are done, please don’t save them all up and send them at the deadline, it really pushes the printing of the book back when I get everything at once. If possible I would like the photos/text emailed to me, scanning in photos and retyping text doubles my time (pushing the printing back). If possible, can I get a list of the events you will be sending so I can mark them off as I get them done? That way I’m not bothering you later in the year to make sure I have all of you info. I know some events are held after deadline, I hold pages for those events, I just need to know they are coming in.

Hope this isnt a dumb question but where does a person find the the size of the ads and pricing for the blue book ads? Lynn what all would a person have to send to you for the ad...You will have to excuse my ignorance on the blue book ads. I have recieved the blue book the last few years and enjoy all the ads but have never tried to put one in my self, but was thinking I would like to try this year.

Ad information

This is taken from of last years Bluebook. If anyone from the BBOA has changes to this they will need to let me know.

All ads are Black & White

Person Ad Deadline: October 15, 2014
Personal Ads:
Full Page Ad (7.5"x10") with 1-2 pictures $80
Additional pictures are $5 each per page.
Half Page Ad (7.5"x4.75") with 1 picture $50
Additional pictures are $5 each per page.
1/4 Page Ad (3.5"x4.75) with 1 picture $30

Commercial Ad Deadline: October 15, 2014
Commercial Ads:
Full Page Ad with 1-2 pictures $100
Half Page Ad with 1 pictures $75
(higher cost includes a Bluebook mailed to your business)

Stories: If you would like to contribute a story, historical information & pictures or just a story about an individual please contact Darren Batterson for more info.

$10 per picture for this section

Most ads contain 1 to 2 photos, pedigree, kennel name, contact info and sometimes a short write, if you have an idea of how you want it to look you can include instructions. Make sure the photos are a good quality, if you have digital photos make sure they are the highest resolution you can do. Most people email or mail me the info they want on their ad and let me design it however it will work. I will email back a proof as long as an email is included.

If anyone wants to design their own ads and send them in "camera ready" I will need a High Resolution (300dpi) PDF. The size of the full page ads are 7.5"wide x 10"high.

If you have an ad running in another publication and want to run it in the Bluebook, you will need to contact that publication and give them permission to email me a high resolution PDF.

I've been told you can also do a 1/4 page ad for $30. This size can only have 1 photo.

Thank you to the zones who are getting their info in early!

If you have held events and have the info, please get it sent in. The earlier I get info the earlier this book can go to the printer.

Thanks Lynn for all of the years of service and helping out working on the Bluebook as the Designer.

Not having an editor makes it extremely hard to get things done and sorry to see you go but it is understandable and I along with many others hate to see you go. We grew (OA & You) doing this book and learning the ins and outs of coonhounds, production, layouts and basic printing knowledge

You will be missed and best of luck in future endeavors and we'll let you know how things are going

We have added a 1/4 page ad back in for $30. Place an ad to show off one of your favorite hounds and support the book.

Heath, you will get one in the spring if you purchased a membership in 2014. I cant remember if I sold you one or not, but I have them if you dont have have one. Let me know and I will fix you up

Just wanted to say thank you for making my first time Bluebook ad process a very easy one.

Guys/Gals if you plan on doing an ad for the Bluebook this year send Lynn what you want in it and she will make your ads look good! There is a little over a month left to get your ads in and I am sure she has a lot to work on so don't wait till the last minute and make her job harder than it needs to be, get your stuff to her as soon as possible.

Deadline is October 15, so please get your material sent in. If I get it early I have a quicker turn around time to get you a proof back. Everything that comes in after the deadline is done in the order I receive it.

We have a dog with 2 cast wins. That may be the dog of the year we have to address that at the meeting. If the cast wins prevail we already have the dog of the year. If it is just high score it may change I dont know at this time will let you know as soon as I know Thanks Bob

A reminder for sending in zone events and ads.

I put the info in exactly how you send it to me. If the info is incomplete it will stay incomplete. Make sure you have everything as you want it to appear in the book.

Deadline is October 15, and we sticking to it, if you have a zone event that is held after October 15 you need to let me know so I will hold a page.

All ads must be in by October 15.

Zones - If I send you pages to proof and don't hear back from you, I'm assuming they are correct. I will send it multiple times and if after the 3rd email I hear nothing, it's marked approved. Just a heads up in case the book comes out and there are errors, I'm making every effort to get the events proofed.

Get you stuff sent in. Deadline is October 15.
