Can you release coons unharmed from dukes foot traps?

Yes, the coon typically will only have a line where the wire holds them. I haven't seen the skin broken yet on one.
The neat side of affect of having the coon's foot held within the metal tube is the coon can't chew its foot.
There are several methods to use. My sons and I just use a stick. Some people use a stick shaped like a "Y" to pin the coons head away from the person releasing the trap. Some use a snare pole. I have even seen a person use a 4'x4' piece of plywood with a small "V" cut in the center along one side to release a bear cub and a wolf.
We release all small coons rather than kill them.

Thank you mr atherton. I have a catch pole to put in role cage. I can get 6 dukes foot holds for the price of one good live trap. Cheaper live traps have door opening to the inside which to me is dangerous for release in my opinion.
