opinions please

just wonderin i have always collar conditioned hounds. basic manners to trash breaking it doesnt matter always tryin to make the hound better but why is it that everybody on here says its a bad idea to shock a dog on the tree i do it all the time for various things i dont like. i have never takin the"tree" out of a dog in fact when im done they usually tree better. ther are several people on here who have called me dumb for suggesting this method of training but why ! i think every body should kno how to properly use a collar.

Either you have a tree dog or you don't. My experience has been if ya got a tree dog it wont make him any worse...if you don't have a tree dog it wont make him any worse. Of a tree dog that is. It will correct some things but I never seen shocking dogs for slick trees change anything. They are hard to stop treeing slick if they stop at all. Call that treeing squirrels like every one else does these days or get rid of the dog.

i agree i handle slicks differently but for chewing jacking off game this is where i ussually use the collar and have had great results.

The truth is their are very few coonhunters that have taken the time to learn how to properly collar condition a dog, and even fewer that can use one correctly.
A good trainer that knows what hes doing can acomplish amazing things with an e collar.
A bad trainer that thinks its a tool of punishment can do alot of harm.

You are very right. An e-collar is a wonderful tool. Unfortunately, most use it as a get even device rather than a training device. Then they want to rant on how the e-collar ruined their dog.lol

Personally, I love the tone button on my Alpha.

Iagree.I think the tone button is the best button on a shock collar.
