How to get a dog to hunt through water

One of my young dogs hangs up on water, he runs the track to it then smells coon in the water and wants to "tree" on it. Ive had it happen in the past and always put em with a dog that was used to water and let them lead the way . But i dont have a dog used to water now, so im gona have to go a different route. Anybody no how to go about this? I have just been going to him and making him go on.

you are prob doing all you can do........imo this is one of those areas where the black voodoo magic of training has a hard time overcoming genetics....ive seen some who came out of it/got over it...........but for the most part it just usualy is what it is :/

the other end of this scale is just about as annoying.......one who will just about swim the Mississippi for no other reason than just to see whats on the other side :/

just keep hunting him in water. its all just part of him learning track sense.

take it to a swampy area where it can learn to go deeper and deeper as you walk around.

Had one do that years ago and 2 things seemed to work. One was id lead him in the direction he was heading and walk him across or around in my case it was a huge pond. Another thing I did was my uncle had a set up for water races at his place so I took him out there in the daylight and let him swim after it and then again that evening and that fixed it. Hope it helps cause it was frustrating for me when he would do it.
