answer this???

Before i start dont think im bashing anyone one on what they do or what they like but last night i took my 11 month old pup to a nite hunt. Paid a $25 entrty fee and won first place with 525 plus. Pretty good score for around these parts. Any way i get back to the club and the man hands me a yellow slip of paper no bigger than a ribbon!!! That was it?? Weres my trophy, money, good job??? Any thing!!! I was just wondering why do people continue to do this every weekend. Some travel good distances to these hunts. I drove a hour anda half. Traded green paper for a yellow one. Lol just think theirs something
Im missing here.

9 outta 10 hunts are " poor boy " hunts which means no trophy , just the win slip .....

It's called sportsmanship. I think alot of this is missing these days in all formats and clubs. I field trialed beagles for about 20 years and was a member of the Northern Michigan Hare Hound Association. When it was time for the results, the fellow beaglers clapped and gave hand shakes to the winner and the placers. I don't think there is a lot of that happening. It seems to be all about getting that almighty TITLE. It should be about the fellowship, commorotity and the fun we have along the way. Just my opinion. Congradulations! Jason the clubs can not afford to get trophy's, and have any money left to pay the bills. It would be different if the hunts drew 30+ dogs a event like back in the day. It was nothing to draw 60-70 dogs at a regular Ukc hunt years ago and now your lucky to get 20. At 20 dogs, the club gets $400 if a $20 entry, now give UKC $25 for the license and 30 more for dog fees to Ukc, you got 350 left, you got insurance, electric, and food expense to pay for, it don't leave a lot for the mortgage and improvements and upkeep.

Well i could understand if the club used the money!!! This club ive been too twice. No water!! No working rest room!!! No coffee, food or drinks!!! Now weres the money going? And to top it off a $25 entry fee!!! I drove a hour and a
Half to this event. Their was 8 registered dogs and 2 nt champions. That nt and gr nt doesnt mean a whole lot to me. Ive seen a nt champion that made nt champion and never left the dog box so how many more is the same? Im just upset i didnt get a trophy!!! Lol had a nice spot for it. Lol

We have rent, electric ,hunt fees and a monthly power bill club up keep..Something most young folk know nothing about is bills that MUST be paid. So they want a trophy. We usually give it cause they will cry and pout if you dont. So dont gwt mad but thats how it is. I know. I have helped run one for yrs and yrs.

While MOST EVERYONE enjoys getting a trophy, that lil yellow slip of paper is what matters the most.

Anything over $20 entry should be a trophy or some sort of prize. But to me its just the addiction of competition. The thought of my dog is better than your dog. At least that night. And nt. Ch. And gr.nt.ch. does mean something. If not .why run in a registered cast to obtain the title? I was at a hunt last night. $20 entry. We drew over 30 dogs. There was 4 nt.ch. casts. We scored 850+. And nite ch. Winner scored 1350+. So beat that score 5 times to be grand and see how easy that is. Not easy . to be grand night around here you better have a coondog..

At our club everone claps for the winner and if you win you get a free entry that's good for a year.not the greatest prize but it helps a little.
