Coon dog swap in Central Missouri--Roanoke, Missouri

Saturday -- July 19, 2014.

I am posting this on the beagle site because beagles have been at the swap before, and beagle and rabbit hunting people are more than welcome to attend this event! There are people looking for beagles.


Coondog and coon hunting supply swap meet Saturday June 21, 2014 in Roanoke Missouri. Right off of Highway 3 in Roanoke on East side of Hwy. 3 in town.


Coon hounds and supplies, lights and anything else that people might bring. Feel free to bring any supplies, no charge to sell or buy or attend. Guns, dog boxes, whatever people bring! Just come by for the fellowship. Vendors are welcome.

All kinds of hunters -- pleasure, competition. And all kinds of dogs from curs to hounds to beagles.

The trading and stories starts around 8:30 a.m. and will go until people leave.

Treeing Contest begins at 10:00 a.m. Trophy for first place. $3 entry per event. 47 entries at last months' events. Open to all dogs.

Water race with a trophy for first line and a trophy for first tree.
Roll cage contest with a trophy for first place.
A drag race contest with a trophy for first tree.

Well the water race is generally for coon hounds and curs.

The dogs race across a pond chasing a coon or coon skin in a raft.

Herb with Sadie took home the first place trophy in the treeing contest.
Brett with Ruby took home the second place trophy. The defending champion, Chili Bean, owned by Bob Gaw, was not able to attend the event.

The roll cage contest was won by Earl Howell with Saigon. Bob Gaw had second with Tanner.

A nice mix of all breeds of hounds and some cur dogs.

An auction was held at noon with several guns, hounds, tracking systems, fishing poles, silver coins, etc. being auctioned.

The next event is June 21st. The treeing contest will begin after 10:00 a.m., with the roll cage contest and water race to begin shortly afterwards.
An auction will take place at noon. Bring anything you want auctioned, no commission.
Also a dog food vendor is planning on attending.

Also this is the same weekend the Higbee club is having its June UKC double hunt weekend. June 20 - bench show at 6:30, Water race at 7:30, and hunt at 9:00.

On June 21 the bench show is at 4:30, water race at 6:30, and the hunt is at 9:00.

So if you like events, these events allow you to really make a weekend of it.

A houndsmans drive is not the thrill of the kill it's the sound of the hound !!!

It was advertised in the classified section of a beagle magazine this month, hopefully next time.


Someone did say some catahoula hound pup were there.... I didn't get a chance to look at them.

Our next swap and treeing contest, swim race, dash race, and bench show is May 16 in Roanoke, Missouri. Events start at 10.
Trading and story telling begin around 8:30.
Will auction off an old rough 88 F150 4x4 after the events. Other stuff may auction too.

Although it is impossible to say what will show up, there have been beagles for sale at the last two swaps.

October trade day

Trade day is October 20 starting at 8:30 a.m. Trading is usually done around noon.
Coon season is right around the corner and this is usually a good trade month.

Tony is bringing is dog collar trailer and many other supplies. He also brings Sexton Brothers dog food for purchase. Please call him ahead of time if you need or want something. He has extensive trapping, fur handling, fishing supplies, lights, squallers, knives, etc but call so he brings stuff you are interested in.
