Morels
Anybody pulling any big hauls? I'm in central Ohio and still only finding a few black here and there. Getting a little worried it could be a poor year. Just wondering how everyone else is doing.
I haven't even found any blacks yet and been in the woods most evenings cutting firewood. I'm seeing beef steaks popping up so it won't be long.

Just came in from mushroom hunting and I found about 1/2 potato sack of yellows.

I live in Northeast, Ky. The black ones are gone. I went Sunday for 2 hours and found over 60 big yellow and gray ones. Prime time for us now.
I'm afraid by the time the ground warms enough in central Ohio it will be so grown up we will need a weed whacker to find them. Nice to hear you guys are having some luck down south though
Where am I supposed to look fer em? Hardwoods, creek bottoms, pasture or river bottoms? Ive never saw any here but have not really looked.

I picked a little over a pound yesterday. All gray 2 yellow. All I hunt is dead elms around here. I know they pop up other places but the big bunches seem to favor elm. Dandelions, the hostas in the flower beds start shooting up and fruit trees blooming always seem to signal the start around here. Good luck to all!!
Aint none around here dont think. Ive looked everywhere last 2 mornings while turkey hunting.ive looked around poplar trees on hills. In hollers. Close to creek bottoms. In pines. Saw 1 mushroom but it was not one of these..

Probably too late in Georgia. My family is in Southwest Virginia and they find a bunch but they are about all dried up down there. I picked a few more pound of Grays here in central Ohio this Saturday. Just starting to get good here!!
Found these under an apple tree just loaded.

A few in Iowa

The earliest I have found them here in Iowa was April 11th. Been having best luck this year on lower ground near rivers, creeks and hills facing to the south. May sound wierd but I don't eat them just like to go and find them. Keeps my neighbors happy and good way to get permission to coon hunt.
