yea boy!

Boat hunting is great! I love it! One of my buddies hate it! he only hunts one way from the dog box and cast them! hell, I also rig em off the hood, and hunt from the ol horse too. I believe it'll make a better dog than just casting all the time. I have also seen them start "winding" quickly, sometimes way out in the lake! I let mine stand up on the bow burn some hot ones and they'll start letting you know where the next is in short order!

Lake and rvr

Lake is a little easier. No current. Don't tear your prop up as bad either. Beware of a bright moonlit night. I have done a lot better on dark nights.

Horses. Man every body around here hunted on mules twenty + years ago when I started. I bought my daughter a little buckskin horse and I ride his butt all over. Nobody else has them anymore much so I'm solo on him mostly

Absolutely...it is a great way to start young dogs and it is a great way to hunt dogs that don't always run what they should or have recently been "corrected" for it. It can also be a good way to find coons moving around river shores when they might not be in the woods.

I know Riverbottom Ron hunts the Mississippi River. I know several guys who hunt the Ohio in southern Indiana. I'd say it depends on if you have a big enough lake to hunt on.

hunting from a boat

Joe House told me yrs. ago that he often hunted from a boat on one of the lakes near him there in Clinton Ky. I have also hunted from a boat but I had to do it in the river and creeks here in S.E.N.C. Its is a good way to get some hot feeder tracks. I would caution you on having a partner and for safety sakes don't wear hip boots while you are in the boat.

We hunt a lake alittle bit and it is good hunting but very cold. One night a friend was with me and the dogs treed about .75 mile in deep , he wanted to start walking and i told him to get in the boat and we got with in 30yards from them, most the time you can find a cove to get closer.
