Walker Days!

Walker Days, the only hunt in the world where you can score 1300 in the registered hunt, collect a THIRD PLACE, and not even make the Final Four!
Congrats to all who placed, that's an accomplishment in itself.

What about the score of 1725+??A wipeout dog at that lol.Congrats to all the winners.

Hate to say it because I hunt a Walker dog, but the scores from Walker Days are always outrageous no matter where they have it at. Makes a person wonder. I am guessing there are plenty of coon where they had the hunt at . I guess different strokes for different folks. I couldn't imagine driving 4-10 hrs, score 1000+ and not get a 1st place win. Just not real hyped up on big UKC hunts because of the crazy scores it takes to win.

If you guys have never been out there it is worth a drive...

I thought I had good coon hunting here in western PA...

I went to the pup hunt last year...if anyone remembers it rained so much it wasn't funny...literally ponds of water everywhere...raining so bad you could drown trying to score a tree...

Horrible weather...but I saw more coon than I ever have in PA....I forget what we scored and can't tell you how many coon I saw sitting up...

You gotta have a coon dog to stay in the game IMO...if your dog misses it can be easier to recover but if another dog doesn't miss it can gain traction quick...

It was fun...bummed I didn't have the time to go out this year...

I always wondered how those huge scores happened..800-1000 here is typically a BIG score..so seeing scores doubling that made me wonder...till I saw it with my own eyes...

i have scored over 1000 many times with a non hunting judge, when you come with a coon dog it does not matter.

A few guys score that and yes I have scored over 1000 honestly many times. The thing is usually with 4 good coon dogs in a final four and the split trees that should be happening it is hard to score over 1000 no matter how good your dog is. Just getting turned loose struck treed scored on one tree and then going to score one split tree eats up a minimum of 20 minutes. There is always a few casts where the dogs all pack or 2 or 3 get scrathced or out of the pocket then the coon treer will be on a terror.

well here were i live and hunt them kinda scores dont happen. i to dont feel they make ukc or a dog or handler look good. im not saying there was any wrong doing or anything like that. its more like fishing in the fish hatchery kinda thing!

guides

Would b my guess. They keep turning those cards in it w b hard to get the out of town boys come play. Congrats to those who tree more coon in 2 hours than I do in 2 nights. That 30 mile difference between where I hunt and they do must make a world of difference.

I scored 1575+ back in 09 with Banjo . I had easily one of the best guides . 1st drop two dogs balled up and it was me left almost 2 hours with a bluetick!! One guy left and the other fella stayed with the cast walked to every tree and looked at every coon! That was on Friday night . Highest score I've ever scored . I always say to myself to expect Thursday and Friday scores to be pretty legit and Saturday night scores to be off the charts . Happens every year .

Thursday night in the pup hunt we treed 7 singles . Faith pup of mine treed 4 singles and a slick that beat herself . And the Ike dog treed 3 . Good and fun cast!! He won with 625.

Where walker days was this year there is lots of coon. And then some hunt off feeders to boot. If everything works out and goes your way then a huge score is very possible and likely. Don't take any minus. Get lucky and hunt by yourself. . 8 or 9 coon is possible. I don't think high scores hurts ukc none like I seen someone mention. What do they want to score 6 or 8 coon or have it somewhere where you score one or 2 coon and that's it? First thing there a lot of coon up there. Second a lot of paid guides to turn you loose in a coon haven. I didn't go this year. But there is coon there. Well let's just see how the scores from this years world hunt are. Its in the same location.

Like I said in a previous post .It don't matter where they have Walker Days at, the scores are always sky high and I don't believe some of the cast to be legit scores and I don't care what dog their hunting. The way I figure it , if a dog hunting by itself on a cast makes 10 tree's that should burn up 50 minutes of hunt time by itself. You add in the 1 minute turn lose time on 10 tree's and we are up to 60 minutes used. So you guys tell me .

Posted by AndyMiller on 04-20-2014 06:15 PM:

//

we scored on four coon and guess what the cast winner scored 175 we had slicks dens fri, nt but we had a very fun cast and that's whats fun

Gee thats the reason a lot of people dont go to the hunts, everytime you all have a big hunt people get on here and cry around about the scores i guess you would have to be there instead of on the computer.

Never been to a hunt and know nothing about nite hunts. How do you score a slick tree? To me if the tree is slick nothing to score. SO how would it be scored. I'm just curious. Or for a den no coon to see?

Posted by Jim Frederick on 04-20-2014 11:30 PM:

slick tree you take minus on strike and tree

Posted by pamjohnson on 04-20-2014 11:40 PM:

gee i dont know why they would go to a big hunt were they bring in scores like this? seems to me people would get tired of it and would atleast wanta draw out one more time and put them 4 winners in another cast so atleast it would be alittle real.

Posted by joey on 04-20-2014 11:50 PM:

No doubt some scores are blown up sometimes, but unless you where on the cast what right do you have to call someones integrity into question?

I have scored over a 1000 four different times and every time it was because the other three dogs didn't belong in a hunt and mine was operating. When the coon are moving, your dog is dominating a cast and they are just falling in behind yours treed its pretty easy to do.

I live 8 miles from thr fairgrounds and guided all 3 nights. Anytime someone believes you cant score on 7 or 8 singles in 2 hours is wrong and I welcome you to come hunt anytime and see for yourself. I won Friday with 1325 plus. A dog minused out the second drop and another dog minused out with 29 minutes to hunt. When he minused out I had 875with a 2 dog cast. We scored on 2 more coons. It's not gonna happen every night and everything has to fall in your favor

I believe a 1325 score is very possible where your located up there. But like you said it takes a perfect cast for you. All gotta go your way. And not gonna happen every night. But as far as north of 1500 I like to see it. Hope to be on a cast to show me that weather I win it or not. Around here 800-900 + is a very nice score. But there more coon up there than here. And sure a lot flatter. Around here it takes some time running these hills to score any more than that. But in coon and flat like up at walker days I'm sure anything under 1200+ would not be a factor.
