Question for you guys that are out there hunting in the the nite hunts.

Have any if you hunting judges deleted tree points yet as per rule 5(d)?
I wonder how many are even aware? This strikes me as one of the breed associations stupider rule changes. We went from a simple plus- minus- circle to something that now requires a written formula .
From the archives.

Here’s a simple chart on when to delete or circle when there’s not a majority to plus or minus the tree.

• 2 minus / 2 circle = delete

• 2 minus / 2 plus = circle

• 1 minus / 3 circle = circle

Anybody had this occur in a hunt yet?

I did, I was the judge. We had an old mans dog tree by itself. We had two saying minus and the other two of us said circle. I told em we'd just delete it then, one of the guys saying minus argued that we couldn't do that "it don't work that way" he said, before we could pull the rules out the old man switched his vote to minus and we went on.

I have never been in that situation before. I don't see why it's a bad rule, it's pretty clear on what to do if you do run into that. I've been fortunate that all the handlers I've hunted with this year have been honest men, and call the dogs for what they do, and score trees accordingly.

How about
2 vote to delete, 2 vote to plus=??
I was MOH at an RQE this year and a question came back where dogs returned to the same general area they had been before. They re treed them and found a coon. 2 guys said it was the same tree they had scored on prior, 2 guys said it was a different tree, so I looked at it like we had 2 voting to plus and 2 to delete. Honestly I'm not sure the proper ruling, but I deleted it and it didn't have any bearing on hunt placement, but what is the correct ruling?

I think you got that one wrong. That situation was solely a judges decisions, was it the same tree or not? Judge decides, anyone can can question, takes a majority to over rule the judge, anyone dissatisfied beyond that takes it to the MOH.
By deleting it, you basically ruled they treed on a previously scored tree.

Well my point is, this is not a voting situation UNLESS someone questions the judges decision. Whether or not dogs have returned to a previously scored tree is a judges decision.

Well I'll be darn, guess this one already got put on here, guess we both got it wrong Jim. I sure never thought we could plus a tree that the judge and another cast member says is the same tree scored previously.
