Coon Hate Me!!
Had some guys take me in their deer hunting club last night to thin some of the coon eating their deer corn. About the time I got there I started feeling ill. After the third tree it was still only about 10 pm I told them I had to go as I was feeling bad. Well one guy went ahead to open the gates and when I went around a corner on the road he was stopped. He asked me how bad did I really feel. I said pretty ruff but why. He said a coon just ran across the road in from of him. Since I had a young dog with me I said, I ain't feeling that bad. We cut and my old dog and young one and they drove that coon about 150 yards and got it treed.
We got back to the truck and started on out again and in about quarter mile another coon ran across the road. He stopped his truck and said you want to run this one. I said I am feeling worse by the minute and I need to head to the house. lol
Now if I was feeling good and wanted to hunt all night I would never see a coon cross the road. Them coon just hate me and wanted to punish me. lol
Anyway we had a short but good night, 4 trees and only one was slick. lol
You guys always ask about the moon and what it does to hunting. A lot of things can be said but one thing it does do is make these coon not look at your light even with the best colored LED. They get up in those trees and either are looking straight up at at the moon or have their eyes covered. You can find them but it is hard.
1st tree pine and we looked for 10 minutes and thought it was slick. Finally saw something that looked like a coon and took a shot at it. Well it was the coon. Second tree, big oak full of leaves. Took 15 minutes of squalling and pounding on side of tree before we saw the spot it was hiding in. Third tree was a pine and I think it was SLICK. Fourth tree was the one we struck off the road and that coon was in a small 20' tree and never looked once. He just couldn't hide his body. lol
Anyway between the coon the moon and my bellyache I had about all I could stand last night.
LoL.Good story and ant nothing worse then getting sick when the hunting is good.I was on a hunting trip in Indiana with my buddy's one year.Treeing coons like crazy.I was miserable but my dog had a coon treed every 5 mins so I hung in there.Puked my guts out but had a blast.Next year no sickness but severe weather rolled in and shut the coon down.I know what your sayin and hope you get back in that deer club soon.
