Mix it with water most of the time they will start going for the moms food on their own.

Here is what i have done...at 3 weeks of age I feed them mush, which is puppy food ground up in a blender with hot water added to it. I feed this 2 times a day for a week, then went to puppy food soaked in warm water to soften it up. At around 4-5 weeks of age, I place puppy chow in a bowl for them to eat between feedings and they will start niblling on it. They will transition from the moistened to dry when they are ready. Keep a bowl of water available as they are ready to drink at this time too.
