molesting off game ?

3 dog registered cast one dog grabs a opossum and brings it back to the cast. He never opens so he is not struck in. What is the correct way to score this?

Beats me really. But I say one of two things. Either just take the possom from him and go on. Or 2. Give him next available strike and minus him. Cause he clearly was on game. But I say no different if he had a coon in his mouth and not struck. He would not get nothing for that . so a possum no different. So just take the possom from him and keep hunting.

I'm not sure you can do anything. It's not a scratch because it's a reg cast. There is nothing to minus. And no reason, according to the rules, to handle. If the dog is not struck and doesn't bark 3 times, I'd say you do nothing.
It would be an odd situation for sure.

Laugh about it and go on hunting... It sounds like he is a tattle tail dog. The other 2 dogs caught and killed a possum and the third dog brought it back to show what they had done. I heard about a 4 dog registered cast a couple of weeks ago where 3 dogs caught and killed a skunk but never barked. The owner/handler of the 4th dog wanted them minused but there was nothing to minus.

But wait, maybe this was a possum farm that they were hunting on. You could scratch the dog for molesting livestock.

This actually happened to me in a hunt long ago, young dog i was huntin came trottin into the cast and set a possum right at my feet.
After the laughing and the retriever jokes were done the judge just started the clock on my pup. Luckily he eventually wondered off and went huntin, a few minutes later the possum got up and wondered off to, which led to another round of ball bustin.

I was on a cast one night and 1 dog got struck and ran a track about 50 yds and shut up. About 3 min after the 8 caught him and he got minused, he came walking in carrying a small coon. I guess that sometimes your the windshield and sometimes your the bug.
